Cole Beasley 2013 Season Outlook

37 posts in this topic

There was a 2012 outlook for Beasley, but it is time for a 2013 outlook thread.

Is this guy a good pick up? He sees more and more targets each week, and he's actually looking good in that Cowboys offense of late.

Brad Evans (@YahooNoise) tweeted earlier:

"Another WR flier with Shocker Special potential, Cole Beasley. Austin fallen out of favor. Shootout potential against DET. PPR upside galore"

What do you guys think?

I posted in the 2012 thread a few days ago asking about him. I guess I should've made a new thread for this year. I'm all about upside and trying to strike gold. Dallas is contemplating sitting Miles until he's healthy. Dez will continue to be bracketed and defenses are now accounting for Williams as well (who I missed out on). I feel Beasley has a lot of value in PPR and I see him as a Welker 2.0 (I hope). Also, that Dallas offense finally seems to be clicking and I'm gonna try and hop on that gravy train.

Considering Burleson will be back week 10 (targeting week 10 at least) and DET has a bye next week I would go with Beasley ROS, pretty close for this week though.

I literally don't know who this is.

Well you're gonna hear about him a lot after this Sunday so get on the train before it's too late my friend.

Argh....I guess the cat is out of the bag....

I mean I guess it would've been anyways once he blows up on Sunday.

The Cowgals have been slowly incorporating him more & more, certainly does seem like the week he finally goes off with Miles out.

Great PPR pick-up. Sneaaaaaky.

It appears I already am, he's owned in all my leagues.

He looks fantastic running his short routes and has glue traps for hands, but can he really blow up with Romo also having to throw to Dez, Terrance Williams, Witten, AND with the run game getting a good amount of touches?

He'll likely be a solid high floor PPR option, but someone's gotta give in that offense. Do ya'll think it's likely to be Witten who gets the downgrade?

WHOA now! Don't you do it! Don't ya'll dare do it! Terrance Williams is and better be the #2 guy for Romo's WR reads. If Beasley starts beasting with a lot of targets and a score this week I am gonna hold each and every one of you guys responsible for hyping him!

I feel like Dez is a mouth you have to feed no matter what. Williams isn't in a position to demand the ball yet (like throw a hissy fit) but he has that big play ability so I think his targets will stay the same and/or go up. Witten on the other hand, as you brought up, is definitely the one that will suffer with Beasley's emergence. He's been in the league long enough that he's not gonna cause a stink if he's not seeing targets and when you have a young slot receiver who has great hands and has YAC ability, you're gonna do everything you can to get him the ball more.

Why y'all think he will be such a good pickup?

Because he has hands like Wayne Chrebet, he's shifty like Wes Welker, runs routes like Steve Largent and has the hops and explosiveness of an African. A very athletic African if I may say.

I would pick him up. Especially with Austin's lingering injury.

I opened his player page and saw 295 career yards and 45 targets and then closed his page pretty fast.

You'll regret that after this Sunday when he gets 100+ yards on 10 Targets.

He's a 4/40 or 5/50 type of guy with the occasional random touchdown. Love the guy and I'm happy he's getting snaps over Miles but it'd take a drastic change in offensive philosophy from what's been down to date for him to get 10 catches. What would you make such a statement?

Miles Austin doesn't look likely to play this Sunday:

From Rotoworld:

"Bryan Broaddus of the Cowboys' official website doesn't envision Miles Austin (hamstring) playing this week against the Lions.

When asked how many snaps he anticipated Austin playing, Broaddus replied, "None." Austin has been "limited" in practice this week, though observers haven't seen him doing much of anything on the field. Terrance Williams will handle outside duties opposite Dez Bryant. Cole Beasley will man the slot."

Good news for Beasley owners, especially if Murray can't get the nod.

If Austin plays I think he's a sneaky WR3/Flex. If you're hurting for WRs he's one of your best pick ups after Douglas/Boykin/etc.etc.

I can understand some skepticism, but the guy is athletic, can catch the ball, and should be in on a lot of snaps as long as Austin is out. Are there big names I would play him over? Probably not. But in a PPR league, if you are looking for a bye/injury fill-in, you could do a lot worse.

I'm a cowboys fan and have watched every game this year. He looks real good out there. Like mentioned above he is definitely quick and has great hands. However there is just too much competition for the ball IMO. 4 or 5 catches seems about right and I'd be surprised if he caught more. But hey, you never know right?

I agree with the 4/40, 5/40 projections above. Don't forget there is Dez, T Will, and Witten

I agree with 50/50. As in 50% chance he catches what he always does and 50% that he catches less.
