Steven Stamkos 2013-2014 Season Outlook

16 posts in this topic

Stamkos just looked like he suffered a nasty injury in today's game vs. the Bruins. Had to be stretchered off with a leg injury. Looks like he tried to put weight on his leg, but couldn't.

This guy has just been tearing it up this year so far. 14 goals in 16 games. I really hope he's okay, such a fun player to watch.

Here's the video of the injury:

Hope you are okay Stamkos. Such a great player for the game. I wish a speedy recovery for you.

Stamkos appears to have broken his tibia. Ouch. Not sure exactly how long he will be out for or if he will need some sort of operation performed, but either way, this is a huge blow to the Tampa Bay Lightning franchise, who as a team, have been performing at a high level this year as they have 24 points in 17 games.

yeah this sucks I have him on both of my fantasy teams so I will have to figure out what to do as we only get 1 injured reserve spot and on one of my teams I already have Cam ward filling it. I hope he comes back sooner than what they're predicting.

Well, if there is any good news from this, I heard there is a chance that he plays in the Olympics. Not out of the realm of possibility apparently.

I've heard anywhere from 3 months to 8 months. (although I believe the former rather than the latter number) I think 3 months puts him around Olympic time. Not sure if it's worth rushing back and risking reinjury but I expect him back for the fantasy playoff run.

Kid looks superhuman. Hope the recovery continues to go smoothly- don't own him in any leagues but I'm Canadian!

big difference between being able to walk on it with a limp vs. being 100% on the ice.

and no telling if he'll be the same player for a while.

good for tampa for his quick recovery though, he is looking good.

Of course. Not arguing that at all. But within two weeks and walking, that's not bad.

Is this guy human?

Per rotoworld:

"Steve Stamkos was on the ice on skates Saturday morning."

"That is nothing short of amazing. Stamkos isn't going to play for another 6-7 weeks as he continues to recover from surgery to repair a broken leg, but the fact he was doing stick work on the ice a mere four weeks after surgery is impressive. There is no question the will to succeed is strong within Stamkos. "
