Remember this guy?

Former Bears player Sam Hurd, who rose from the rough and poor San Antonio streets to the glamor of the NFL, was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years in prison for his role in trying to set up a massive drug operation spanning three states.

Hurd, 28, pleaded guilty in April to one count of conspiring to possess and distribute cocaine and marijuana, just days before his trial was set to begin. He was charged with drug conspiracy, accused of conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana beginning in July 2011 until June 6, 2012.

I do remember him. Didn't he have some productive games with the Cowboys back when Miles Austin was just breaking out. Or maybe it was the following year when Austin was a little banged up. Anyways, what a knucklehead. Did he really think he wouldn't get caught. Big time drug dealers always get caught eventually.

Soft sentence, could have been worse.

I didn't know 15 years in a federal prison for a non-violent offence was "soft."

He was supposed to be the starter in 2009, but then got injured and ended up missing the whole season I believe. This led austin to step in and dominate.

Read the article on SI about him: http://mmqb.si.com/2013/11/12/sam-hurd-cocaine-bust/

I don't want to get off topic here, and please keep in mind that I don't give two sh*ts either way (since I believe anything is fine in moderation)...but to those who think weed isn't addicting: have you ever heard of psychological dependence? Its arguably more powerful than the physical type. Anything that leads to dependence can be dangerous.

Technically anything can be addictive. What we are saying is weed is not an addictive substance. There is not a single addictive chemical in marijuanna. If you smoke weed every day for 20 years then decide to stop you will not experience withdrawal. Back to hurd he is just using it as an excuse to not take responsibility for his actions. He isnt going to jail for smoking weed he is going to jail for trafficking coke. He was simply trying to make easy money and didn't think he would get caught

You're absolutely right, anything can be addictive. Work, sex, alcohol, weed, heroin...whatever. The physiological effects are very powerful, and you absolutely can be addicted to any of them.
