2013 Weather Outlook

118 posts in this topic

I figure we should have this thread because now is when weather can really start to affect games.

Starting with Chicago tomorrow where there is a high probability of HEAVY rain and 30 MPH winds. Tomorrow might be the worst weather that many of these players have ever played in if the forecast turns out to be accurate.

What could this mean? Not much kicking will be possible at Soldier Field with Tucker and Gould. Also, Flacco and McCown won't be able to throw like they want. Heavy dose of Forte and Rice, I'm guessing. Not saying I would bench a Marshall or Torrey Smith, but I would consider other options other than Flacco and McCown in case you're in a deep league.

Also, there seems to be some weather concerns in Cincy for the Cincy-Browns game as well. Something to keep an eye on.

THIRTY miles per hour is a crazy amount of wind. I wouldn't expect much passing at all if that's the case. It's enough to make me consider benching Jeffrey.

Agreed. This might be a scenario where you should actually sit your WR studs if you have better options.

Will intense rain make Rice finally a viable play? Nah, probably not. Bernard Pierce will get points over Rice LOL.

Anyway, thanks for the heads up. My opponent is heavily invested in the Bears O (McCown, Forte, Marshall) this week so hopefully the winds gust even higher.

You still can't sit absolute studs in the weather. No one in there right mind should sit Marshall or Megatron tomorrow. Maybe give second thought to starting someone like Alshon Jeffery.

Don't think it is going to matter for Cameron/Gordon owners.

No way the Browns run McGahee 30 times.

So maybe I should stop pacing around wondering if I should bench Gordon for Harvin? Lol

Overthinking things always kills. I never bench one of my good players because of weather. Now if it's truly a tough 50/50 call, then I'll take into account the weather.

I agree, weather gets overrated a lot of times, especially wind. Unless it is a white out blizzard or torrential downpour, I try not to overreact when conditions are going to be a little nasty.

Im a weather hobbyist..30 mph gusts at times. Not sustained. The entire area is under a moderate to high risk for severe weather. If those storms roll through during game time, the game will be delayed. The setup is dangerous tomorrow for a lot of damaging storms, but I would leave everyone in your lineup.

thread should be titled "Mother Nature's Season Outlook 2013" :D

meh.

anyways, i personally would have no prob with BMarsh/Bennet/Forte, and, to a lesser extent, McCown ... those guys are gonna get theirs, regardless. they make their living with the short/intermediate stuff. hell, Marshall might see 20 targets today, who knows.

same with Cameron and Chris Bananas for Cleveland.

kickers are another story, of course ... wouldn't want any part of that sh!te show.

Yeah I dumped Justin Tucker. I really hate spending transaction $ on kickers unless I have to due to bye but I'm fighting for a playoff spot

not to derail here, but pertinent to the weather discussion, as kickers are most affected ...

take a look see if Feely (Arizona), Gano (Carolina) or Novak (San Diego) are out there for those carrying Tucker. Gould, etc.

one league i'm in penalizes for missed fg's ... eff that weather noise, gents.

I have Big Ben and McCown....which one would you folks start? If weather equally bad both places, I guess I will stick with McCown.

60% chance of rain in pittsburgh with 12-15 mile per hour winds...

Roethlisberger reminds me of the type of guy to throw bullets in hailstorms..... maybe it's the sideways nose that makes me think it, I don't really know.

CHI/BAL and PIT/DET seem to be the only games worth worrying about. There was a bit of frost and snow that they have been clearing up in Pittsburgh with t-storms predicted for later in the day. Bills/Jets will have some showers if any, and the Eagles/Redskins game could feature some rain - but again in all of those except Chicago and Baltimore we need not be concerned with the wind or torrential down pouring.

- I am not a weather man (or a liar) but from the way the storm has been moving across the east coast I don't think any games in Florida (San Diego/Miami) should be affected - even though NFL Network shows chance of rain in that game.
