Brandon Morrow 2014 Outlook

120 posts in this topic

The Blue Jayshave adjusted their starting rotation schedule, bumping Brandon Morrow to the fifth spot, which puts him on track to start the home opener against the New York Yankees on April 4.
Morrow, who was originally slated as the number-two pitcher behind R.A. Dickey, has struggled thus far in spring, giving up six earned runs in five innings while striking out just a pair of batters. He has talked openly about having trouble with his fastball command.

Rough spring, got knocked around by the Canadian Junior Team, fastball command issues.

He is literally forgotten in drafts and can be had for a bag of peanuts, but will he turn around?

I literally saw this thread and thought, "Oh yeah, Brandon Morrow exists and might be(?) back this year?"

2012 was nice, the K/9 is nice.

The terrible WHIP, the usually terrible ERA, and the AL EAST isn't.

But... I kind of still want him in the last round now that I remembered B)

stuff looked okay at times, lost it a bit at others... nothing really wild about it. a lot of soft singles, fly outs, and walks all ended up in runs. just seems like he could use another spring start. needs to find consistency with his stuff.

It's going to be fun streaming against the Mets and Marlins as usual.

He's my new Liriano. A guy who is very likely going to suck. A guy who will likely going to tank my ratios. A guy who likely shouldn't be rostered.

And yet I'm going grab him, because when he looks good, he looks soooo good.

Today might his only good start this spring, though he's been using this whole spring to get back his fastball command. The Yankees will be a good test for his first regular season start.

3 IP so far, and ...... 4 ER.

So much for hoping for a good start from Morrow.

How does he look? Anyone watching the game?

The line isn't encouraging but I loved 2012 Morrow, was hoping he'd get back to that.

He was outstanding when he stopped trying to get strikes and induced groundballs in 2012. Looks like he got singled to death today but I didn't see it.

I was ready to drop him on a blow up but this line has me torn.

He should start re-establishing contacts with friends, family - people that can help him explore opportunities in his next career path.

Anyone watching this start? The results are great but it's the Astros I'm more impressed with the stuff seems to be throwing nice and easy 98 exploding out of his hand and his breaking stuff looks great

A couple years ago he tried to "be a pitcher". Dialed his velo down and was trying to get contact.

I've watched alot of his starts over the past couple years and the gun rarely said 98 mph. It used to say that 2 or 3 years ago when he was just trying to K everyone.

I think he's trying to K everyone again. Which is good.

Kind of surprised nobody is superstitious enough to not bump a pitchers thread when they're pitching a gem...I bet you Toronto players aren't even making eye contact with Morrow right now while he's this hot...
