Nick Tepesch 2014 Outlook

18 posts in this topic

coming up to start on Wednesday in Houston against the Astros in place of Martin Perez.

Nick Tepesch will be called up to start on Wednesday versus the Astros.

He's taking the place of Martin Perez (elbow), who will miss at least one start. Tepesch certainly earned the promotion with his work at Triple-A Round Rock, as he boasts a 1.58 ERA over seven starts. He could stay in the rotation for a while if Perez misses significant time.

this season in AAA (PCL)

7 starts, 45 IP, 1.58 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, 41 K, 9 BB.

with the back tightness and back troubles of Harrison, this guy could be a nice addition to fantasy teams.

Facing the Astros. Picked him up as a streamer. Possibly keep a bit longer depending on his results and Perez's status

5.1 IP, 8 K. 2H, 3 BB, 0 runs, but responsible for Fowler.

EDIT: figures the runner came around to score. still an impressive performance.

well that went south fast

If he can go 7 and get some more run support-- the game won't be a tragedy.

Edit: Choo dinger. Let's shut the door and get this win, Tepesch.

Did they really need to bring him out for the 7th? Now he's on the hook for two base runners...

EDIT: Double play, nice. In line for the QS, possibly a win.

Can someone who watched the game tell us how he pitched? How did he command his pitches? How fast was his fastball? Did he have a good swing and miss pitch? Was he getting lucky? Etc. Thanks.

definitely interested in him based on his two starts next week and solid triple a numbers. Anyone have more info?

Read the 10 posts above yours...looks like he needed a lot of luck/things to go he way to escape with the QS during his last start. Nick Tepesch combined with a severely weekened offense AND Ron Washington as one of the worst coaches when it comes to handling pitchers doesn't thrill me. I owned him last year....believe me, he's nothing special.

Thrown him all three games thus far this season. Gonna keep rolling with him until anything should indicate otherwise.

What do you think about him versus the Mets at their pitcher friendly park? I know the Rangers are struggling and getting a W will be tough but he has had some good starts this year vs. MIN, HOU, & SEA. The problem is that when he faces batters the 3rd time around, they light him up.
