Brandon Crawford 2014 Season Outlook

What's his potential? Seens to be hitting and has 20 RBI and 5 HR at shortstop. He's also in a good lineup.

Going from memory here, but based on his career numbers I don't think you can extrapolate those 5 HRs out to a full season total of 20. He's never shown that kind of pop. If you want to believe that he's suddenly gained a power stroke at 27 that might be reasonable, but you're still looking at a low average guy with no speed.

He's intriguing but the power has to be there for him to be an asset and short sample sizes are notoriously unreliable when evaluating HR potential. I added him in two leagues and plan to ride him while he's hot but I'll be watching carefully for signs of regression.

The difference this year is that he's starting to hit lefties and is showing Bochy he can be an everyday shortstop. He provides no speed so that's the biggest downside to his game. I actually think the power is real but would guess he'll end up closer to 15 homers than 20.

No I believe it just surprised.

Realistically he has middling power at best and no speed so he will need to keep his obp up to receive counting stats. Batting low in the lineup doesn't help. He's a solid MI option nothing more but he's a really good player for the giants
