Kyle Parker 2014 Outlook

7 posts in this topic

called up by the Rockies.

Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports that the Rockies are calling up prospect outfielder Kyle Parker.

The Rockies have yet to make an official announcement. Parker, 24, is batting .292/.347/.478 line with seven home runs and 38 RBI over 66 games in Triple-A this season. He could see playing time in the corner outfield spots with Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer both sidelined in addition to spelling Justin Morneau at first base.

with the players the Rockies have, could he see regular playing time? expectations? just hitting at Coors should make him interesting.

minor league numbers.

I like him in real baseball, but it's hard to see him getting much PT once that team is healthy. He can't play CF, and the team is set at the corners (LF, RF, 1B). He strikes me as being like Corey Dickerson, but without the SB.

On a team with a less crowded OF (e.g. the Mets) I would like him more. But the Rockies' OF is all signed through 2015, so he's probably a short-term play at best while half their team is on the DL.

Isn't he their top hitting prospect? I thought for the last 2 years all I heard about was Kyle Parker this and Kyle Parker that.

#6 at minorleagueball

#4 at baseballamerica

#10 at fangraphs

so it's a mixed bag, though everyone generally agrees he's one of their better prospects.

i see him being sent back down if/when everyone is healthy. i mean, when healthy they didn't have room for the guys that were already called up. but he's a nice spec. grab in deeper leagues.

Struck out first at bat vs. Kershaw...there's a shocker...first two pitchers he faces in the majors....Jansen and Kershaw. Ya that's fair.
