2014 Handcuff Thread

37 posts in this topic

New idea I think would be an interesting discussion. Who are the top tier handcuffs? The people that would stand to gain (fantasy) stardom if the first string player got injured, or things of that sort.

I'm looking for the guy I may find in the 12th+ round, that is an injury away from coming in being a fantasy starter. A vague round assignment will be given to them based on a 12 team 0.5 ppr basis.

So far I've got :

Knile Davis (8-10)

Andre Brown (8-10)

Christine Michael (8-10)?

Shonn Green (8-10)

Terrence West (6-8.... lol) (if you want to pay that price. LETS GO TATE)

Blount (12+?, feel like hes forgotten)

Crowell (12+) (the real starter if Tate goes down [which he isn't])

Ka'Deem Carey (12+)

Bernard Pierce (6ish? not sure what to do with this situation)

Dexter Mccluster (UDFA?)

Let's hear it guys

I want to say Joique Bell but Im not sure what his role is going to be, looking like a 60/40 with reggie. I dont know how Mike James isnt on your list guy was a stud for that 2 ( or 3?) game stretch. Maybe Ahmad Bradshaw also? Michael Bush also.

Bell has legit RB2 value with or without Bush. However, I think RB2 might be his ceiling.

The backup with the most to gain is absolutely C-Mike IMO. But his price is likely rising. My favorite sleeper/handcuff right now is Andre Brown.

Mike James is a good one, but the combination of rainey and sims makes me wary of his ability to just step into the feature role. We'll see what happens in preseason

Pretty sure Michael Bush doesn't have a team nor any potential suitors at this point.

Bryce Brown is a handcuff's handcuff.

Maybe on paper but if the fossil known as Fred Jackson gets hurt, I think Spiller and Bryce would both benefit. The Bills are a run first team and have to be because EJ is so deficient in a variety of ways.

Freeman & Hill

Yeah, I don't even really see Hill as a cuff. That should be a pretty even RBBC if Hue knows what he's doing....and me thinks that he does.

I agree. I think hill will be used alot more than people think.

Yeah, as evidenced again and again on these forums, people inexplicably lose their freakin' minds over Gio but he just isn't a workhorse RB. 10 or fewer carries in 8 games last season and a season high of 15 carries with only BJGE to compete with? He is a talented specialty back who should catch a decent amount of passes and have a few big weeks but I can't believe people are using a second round pick on him.

Not that I'm completely sold on Gio. But he reminds me of Ray Rice and we all know what Rice did in his second season once he was given the job.

I don't follow the Gio/Rice comparison. Rice is (at least he was) a mini-tank who dominated in pass pro and short yardage situations. Why does Gio remind you of Rice? Because they're both short guys?

Chris Polk. If McCoy goes down he will be the new inside back and in that offense he should provide production.

What about Fozzy Whitaker?? He was a roto forum darling last year. Surely this is his year.

Or "Not so Neon Dion?" Has this gotta be the season when Tate tears his toenail, Crowell has a drug relapse and whoever that other back is decides Towson was best?

Tre Mason in round 11-12 if you pick up Stacy seems necessary.

We're not even sure if he'll beat out Cunningham as the #2.

Dunbar

Anderson

Michael obviously in an ideal situation but it doesn't appear as if Lynch is done as a workhorse.

Donald Brown/ Woodhead

Chris Polk

Latavius Murray

and last but not least.... James White

Vereen can never stay healthy and James White was named by many an extrememly underrated RB.

Yeah if you draft DeMarco Murray, Lance Dunbar is a MUST fantasy handcuff.

Dunbar's skillset and the new Dallas offense make him a nice value, especially in deeper PPR formats. However, if Murray goes down, I don't know if Dunbar is the kind of guy who Dallas will give a huge workload to. It could turn into an ugly RBBC with Randle, Williams, and Dunbar all seeing some work (assuming all three of those guys make it through camp).
