Axe Elf's 2016 Leagues, Teams and Players

Recommended Posts

The drafting is done; now I'm ready for some football.

I drafted 81 leagues this season; 25 are managed leagues and 56 are best-ball (draft only) leagues.
72 are money leagues, 9 are free leagues.
60 drafts were auctions, 21 were snakes (and 5 of the snakes were slow/email drafts).
17 leagues use some variation on standard scoring; 64 leagues use some variation on PPR scoring.
2 leagues were mandatory 2-QB leagues, while a third has a SuperFlex slot in which a QB may be used.
6 leagues do not use Kickers; 1 league does not use a Defense either.  1 league uses both a team Defense and IDPs.
I have 15 Yahoo leagues, 7 ESPN leagues, 5 MyFantasyLeague leagues, and 54 RealTime Sports leagues
2 leagues are 8-team leagues, 65 are 10-team leagues, 12 are 12-team leagues, and 2 are 14-team leagues.
3 of the 12-team leagues also have a global competition beyond individual league play.

Across all 81 leagues, I have made 1,559 draft picks, consisting of 140 unique players.  While I can't list all 81 teams here, I can list all of those players, and the number of times I have drafted each one:

It seems pretty safe to say that if Matthew Stafford, Carlos Hyde, Isaiah Crowell, Allen Robinson, Michael Floyd, Devante Parker and Delanie Walker go down, my season is going to be in the toilet.

Someone earlier in the preseason asked for links to all my leagues so they could make sure I wasn't lying about my win percentage, so here they are as well.  Have fun keeping track...

Don't be silly.  There are only 52 players that I have in 10 leagues or more.  5 are QBs, 16 are RBs, 17 are WRs, 8 are TEs, 2 are Ks and 4 are Ds.

Considering that most rosters consist of 2 QBs, 4 RBs, 5 WRs, 2 TEs, 1 K and 1 D, that's a pretty narrow scatter pattern over 81 different leagues.  The widest net is thrown at the TE position, but I draft 3 TEs to every Draft Masters team, and if you take out Tye and Allen (both of whom appear only 10 times), then it's still only 6 different TEs.

If I'm using someone less that 10 times in 81 leagues, I'm probly not in a position to crow if they do well in such limited use.

Insane. Now I don't feel like I'm over-doing it with my 7 leagues. Bouncing from site to site is a pain, not sure how you can keep track. Last year I had ESPN, Yahoo, and NFL.com and kept forgetting to set lineups or pickup the right WW guy.

I think it's interesting to note the different draft strategies. In my 7 leagues, I only own 5 of the guys you drafted 15+ times (Stafford 1x, Cousins 1x, Crowell 1x, Walker 1x, and Dion Lewis 2x). My prime draft picks were Bell 6x (I had the 10/11 pick a lot), Josh Gordon 4x, Cobb/Luck 3x.

Good luck in those $ leagues

So what is a draft only league and IDP?

Draft-only leagues (best-ball leagues, Draft Masters leagues) are just what they sound like--draft only.  No waivers, no trades, no setting lineups--you automatically get the best possible lineup based on the players' scores after each week's games are played.  If you have Matthew Stafford and Ryan Tannehill for QBs, and Stafford scores 23.5 while Tannehill scores 18.3, you get 23.5 for your QB score that week.  They are generally total points leagues--most points scored over the first 16 weeks wins.

IDP is Individual Defensive Players.  You draft linebackers, defensive backs, and linemen just like you do offensive players.  Usually IDP leagues do not use a team defense as well; the one I'm in this year does, though.

That's interesting. About the draft only leagues.  If you have a bunch of injuries, are you just out of luck?

Different strokes for different folks, but I enjoy doing 1 big money league, with the occasional DFS plays.  This is a full time job, right here.

Yes.  That's why it's kind of a different strategy than drafting for managed leagues, at least in the auction drafts that I like most.  In a managed league, you can spend all your money on a few studs and round out your bench with $1 players, but in a Draft Masters league, you have to draft for depth so that you have those guys who will still contribute points even if you lose a couple of guys to injuries.

How good does THIS team look now?  10 team standard scoring with Gurley and Peterson, flexing Anderson.  AJ Green at WR, with Moncrief and Floyd, or maybe Gordon comes back and gives me another WR1.  Too bad it's just in a free ESPN public league. lol

And, most importantly, you have Crowell!

Good luck with these, Axe.

Actually it is.  If you are making 6 figures then I would agree it is not.

Serious question: do you have a real job?  If so, what is it?

Is that directed at me?
