Christan Pache-OF ATL

Recommended Posts

  1. Cristian Pache is my favorite breakout candidate in the system this year. He will likely follow in Acuna’s footsteps and spend the year at Rome, and he is an 18-year old with 5-tool potential. Pache’s stats from last season were solid, but he did not tap into any home run power. Scouts expect that to come, and a full season should help put it on display. Pache possesses solid bat to ball skills and good speed. If you missed the quick rise of Acuna, pounce on Pache now.
  2. From Prospects1500....haven't found much on him yet....

8/5/16, Steve Givarz -- Athletic body, fair projection remaining given age, physique, and experience. Good bat speed with some power, loads up early with a hitchy swing, makes it work and generates hard contact. Plus runner. Average arm strength, still learning routes and reads, speed helps to cover up mistakes. Intriguing prospect, potential 4th OF. BP Article, No Paywall

2/6/17, Wilson Karaman -- Pache's got plus speed and makes loud contact, lotta rough edges to the swing though. BP Chat Thread

Hard to get excited about a 4th OF:)

You don't think he's an MLB starter?

I was just reading the BP blurb above...I don't know enough about him yet myself.

Pache drew a $1.5 million bonus as a 16-year-old in 2015. He’s a perfect example of the reward in signing a top July 2nd prospect, as his tools have taken a huge step forward since signing: his run grade jumped from 60 to 80, his arm from 60 to 70, and his raw power from 45 to 55. In the meantime, he’s also become arguably the best defender at any position in all of minor-league baseball. The only issue for Pache is tweaking the mechanics of his swing. He needs to lift the ball more and create a stronger base to tap into some of his power and allow his athleticism to play.

These are fixable things: he’s just turned 19 and has succeeded offensively up till this point (despite being young for each level) while relying on tools alone. With a new hitting coordinator and natural physical maturity, Pache may have a breakthrough at the plate this year. The Braves rave about his makeup and coachability, while his athleticism would be world class in any sport. With little improvement, he’s a Kevin Pillar two- or three-win type defensive specialist and his upside is a six-plus-win perennial All-Star.

wait what!? he has an 80 run grade, 70 arm, and 55 power? throw in a hit tool, and that's a star.

(to be honest, I overpaid for him in dynasty about 2 months ago, and this forum is helping ease the pain of that decision)  :)

I like Pache a lot. He is probably the best defensive outfielder in the minors... and with his speed, we are looking at playing time + steals. So that's a nice start off the bat.

The power is tough to project. I could see it taking a big leap... or I could see him topping out at 12. It's tough to say at this point. Stay tuned!

Love me some Pache as well. So where does he play assuming he makes it to the show? LF? With Acuna locked in at CF where does he play? With an 80 run grade does that kind of defensive coverage move Acuna to LF? That would be some serious OF coverage with Pache and Acuna. AA will be the biggest test for him this year. Worth a watch...yes.

Ender is locked in at center. Acuna will play a Corner OF spot. If Pache develops he will take over center and the Braves will move Ender. Pache may be the best defensive prospect in the game.

This guy has made real swing adjustments. 5 tool player and huge breakout prospect this season.

I bought some shares this year to replace Acuna in my farm. Probably one of the more interesting non-top 100's out there right now. A comp that came to me is Lorenzo Cain, albeit with a bit less power and a bit more speed. Really curious to see how he does this season with the rumors of offseason swing adjustments. As has mentioned before, at worst he's a great defensive CF who can be an asset in the 8 hole or a cheap leadoff man, like a better version of Ben Revere. At best, I'd say the upside is something along the lines of Carl Crawford. Either way, he's a great early investment to see what he does. Could end up a top-25 prospect by year's end.

I am also very intrigued. He's gonna shoot up lists if he follows up the swing adjustments with statistical production in highA ball.

Homered the other night for the first time professionally. Impressed by what the Braves have done with his mechanics.

BP says he looks like a future top 20 prospect if he can sustain a bit of power in games. Couple evals have said he has the raw for it.

I'd love to see him be more selective. He's got plenty of time though.

This is probably one of the biggest risers of the year so far. Expect a lot more places to have him in line with Fangraphs, who had him mid 30s I believe.

He's hitting well, just waiting to see his power.  I had him stashed in keeper, dropped up, but no one else is really familiar with him so he's still sitting out there.  I'm debating picking him up, just on the off chance he finds his power stroke.

He hit 2 HR's this weekend and apparently entered Spring Training with an added 20 lbs. of muscle and he is looking to add an additional 10-15 lbs.

He weighed 185 after the 2017 season.

He will be flying up the rankings if he keeps all of this up.

Fangraphs currently has him ranked 19th with a future value of 55. There is nothing but great feedback on this kid from the Braves organization.

I gotta get him on my team.

His elite defense will get him to the bigs either way, but if he can keep putting the offensive side together he could be something quite special.  The power is somewhat new, so if this trend continues I could see him flying up the lists as he has all of the other tools to be a stud.

I saw him play a year and a half ago in a single a all star game and was shocked by how big he actually was because I was just looking at stats and saw he had no home runs. But man he has great size. I think growing up his coaches always had him hit the ball on the ground to use his speed and he has had to learn a new swing, but now he is starting to shower his power potential. I think he could easily be a 20 homer guy in the majors plus elite defense and great speed. Intriguing prospect for sure.
