Vladimir Guerrero Jr. - 3B TOR

Recommended Posts

Continuation of yesterday's game-played 2 games today.  2 errors in the first one, a HR in the second.

Hitting 3rd in that league as a 17 year old with no professional experience....lots of reason to be excited.

Thanks

Says he only has 1 HR, but people here saying 2.

Bluefield has a 2-2 record and it only lists 3 games played, so my guess is that the intern that enters in rookie league data was hung over and called out of the office today.

Vlad Jr went 1-4 with a solo homer and 2 Ks yesterday.

Seems like MiLB.com updates their pages a lot quicker than fangraphs.

Yeah MiLB.com is really quick.  A lot of times season stats on player profiles will be updated less than an hour after game completion.  Generally it takes a couple of hours after the game.  Sometimes fangraphs is a day or two behind.

I have a strong feeling this guy will be a top 10 fantasy pick in his prime.  He's really starting to get on a roll in rookie ball after struggling for the first few games.  In dynasty I'd try to get this guy now before he really makes his mark.  I have a feeling he's about to get red hot.

Ahh Feelings about a 17 year old. Not talking smack, it's just way too early to say that. I'd love for it to happen though! He's not even in the ESPN player pool, unfortunately.

Search "Toronto" & "OF" in the free agents dropdown options and scroll to him. For some reason he shows up as "V Jr" everywhere else, but I drafted and own him in an ESPN dynasty. Long shot, maybe foolhardy, but the upside is real real high. It feels good to see Vladimir Guerrero on the roster, and "V Jr" on my FantasyCast. Maybe next year they'll err to "Vlad the Impaler".

I just searched for his name on ESPN and he does not show up.

Numbers aren't leaping off the page at you, but the kid has been very impressive in his first season.

Skipping over the DSL and/or the GCL, thrown into the mix in the Appy League - he's certainly held his own.

I'm most impressed with his K/BB rate, and at this age and playing up....it's certainly a great sign.

still a long, long ways away, but lots of reason for optimism.

The new guy at FG mentioned effort in his swing. Hopefully as he relaxes the power he showed early will come back around.

Do the SB mean anything at this level?

At this level? Not much, but it is something to monitor.

As is everything else this kid is doing.  2 more HR last night, bringing him up to 7.

Most impressively for him, the K/BB ratio is 26/24.  Not shabby whatsoever for a 17 year old playing in this league.

Hard not to be really excited about him.

Gotta admit- I'm excited :)

This kid is a monster.  He will get to the bigs at a very young age.

Vlad smash.

I've add him in my dynasty league based on name value alone.  Obviously from basic searches he can mash, but does he have a similar arm/glove to his pops?

If this guy comes to Lansing I might have to think about season tickets, live about 15mins from the Lugnuts stadium. You guys are way better at this stuff than me, I assume that's probably his next stop?

Depends on what they want to do with him.  Next stop likely would be Vancouver, but with the huge success that this year has been for him, I'd think they're going to push the agenda and send him to Lansing next year.

He's started every game at 3B, regardless of what he's listed at on MILB.  Every game at third.  I can't speak to what his glove is, but remember reports that his arm was good, not great.  His dad's arm was among the best I've ever seen.

Indeed. Compare his efforts so far to Jimenez at 17, in the AZL:

.227/.140 ISO, 32/10 K/BB.

Salivating.
