Big fly for B-Rad Z!

He is quite the physical specimen. Reminds me of a Gallo/Mazara type build.

It only took one game for him to adjust.  Looks promising.  I'm tempted to throw him out there vs Morton in Houston, a much more hitter friendly environment.

he is still available in my league. should i bite just on potential alone?

Always grab first ask questions later if you have an expendable piece.

Personally, I would be much more interested in folks breaking down the swing changes Zimmer made in the AFL and spring this year (when either as a result of the change or just correlated with the change, his numbers took a leap in AAA), rather than posting which celebrity or other baseball player he looks like.

I've read many references to the swing changes, but I haven't managed to find a piece that sums them all up -- exactly what he did and why it's going to make him more successful now (and unfortunately I'm not very good at analyzing swing mechanics myself).  A lot of the prospect reports on Zimmer are based on what he had done prior to this year, but we've seen swing changes make a major, major difference for other players -- ones with arguably much less raw talent than Zimmer.

Does anyone have any information on that they could add to the thread?  That would be highly interesting.

On MLB Network they just broke it down: mentioned a few things he was working on in the AFL: 1) open stance; 2) closes off front side; 3) still head; and 4) most importantly, back elbow rides through the baseball, creating an effective bat path.

Keon Broxton comp may be accurate.  The K rate is alarming.

I mean, you've seen his K rate in the minors this season and his previous years...not very surprising that he's whiffing a ton in his first stint up with the big boys.

He's shown a bit of everything in his first four games.  Contact rate needs improvement.  Any chance he gets sent back down?

Indians get a 7 game home stand this week with 3 lefties scheduled. He sat yesterday against a leftie. What are guys in weekely lineups doing this week. I'd really like to start him but if he sits against all 3 lefties I can't play him.

I sat him for that reason. Next week is even worse for lefties if he's going to sit against them all.

Dropped him to snag a piece of JDL. Long term I still believe in him. But it's difficult to find more than one start in my lineup with him per week. Hopefully he starts seeing more ABs vs lefties. Similar to how Conforto used to sit vs lefties last year and has improved significantly against them this year.

lol well I'm in a keeper so no chance he would get dropped but in a redraft it's understandable even though his upside is very high if he gets ABs

What's the chances they give him a chance to hit lefties? He got dropped in my keeper league, but it's a weekly league so I can't swap him out based on matchups..

Chisenhall is due back soon. So I think if anything his playing time is likely to go down a bit with an extra lefty OF and with Austin Jackson as a righty in CF.

any current takes on Bradley Zimmer? how does he look at the plate?

trying to decide between him or Keon Broxton. They seem eerily similar. Will Zimmer keep playing even with Chisenhall around? recent game logs suggest he is being relegated to a part time role.... booo!!!!

Zimm is rocking an .874 OPS right now... and his stats in the bigs so far (87 plate appearances) look very similar to what he did at Columbus this year (144 plate appearances)

seems to be adjusting well. for comparison:

Columbus: .294/.371/.532 -- 4 homers, 6 steals (7 attempts)

Cleveland: .286/.368/.506 -- 5 homers, 9 steals (12 attempts)
