2 bombs tonight

2 for 3 with another HR last night.  It's really starting to click for this kid.... This could really be the lighting of the fuse to Keibert's sky rocketing up the prospect rankings.

I think if they let him finish out the year at AA Tulsa before moving up to AAA to start next season.  If he shows that he can handle the rigors defensively next year, he could get a call-up at some point, which given his age and position would be quite rare.

This was also off of top pitching prospect Michel Baez last night.

Seems like a pretty big deal. Read the thread. Seems like there may be a legit buy low window based off his stats this year. You’re going to want to buy.

by RotoWire Staff
(2 hrs ago) Ruiz went 3-for-5 with a stolen base and an RBI in Double-A Tulsa's 6-0 win Thursday over Northwest Arkansas in Game 2 of their Texas League semifinals series.

It's the fourth consecutive three-hit performance for Ruiz, who has elevated his Texas League slash line to .268/.328/.401 with the hot finish to the campaign. While Ruiz's .729 OPS doesn't jump off the page, the fact that he has been roughly a league-average hitter at just 20 years old while receiving high marks for his work behind the dish has him poised to open 2019 as one of baseball's top catching prospects.

Didnt know he was Rule 5 eligible yet, but that seems pretty obvious of a move if they had to

J2 players always burn up a year before they ever even play due to being signed in July. Usually age 21 is when you have to protect them. Ruiz was technically 15 when J2 signings opened in 2014. He turned 16 during July.

Thanks but dumb question maybe.  What is a J2 player?

International period of signing players that starts on July 2nd. Every year is a class basically, similar to draft class.

This was particularly a good one. J2 player just means an internationally signed player pretty much.

Called up to AAA and goes 2-4 HR 4rbi in his first game. Very interesting considering Will Smith is also there. Is he getting called up? Are they going to be trading one of these two prospects?

Lots of possibilities here, though there's nothing but speculation for right now. Smith didn't play yesterday so we'll see tonight if they're going to alternate the two over the next week or so, or if they're looking to preserve Smith for a potential trade/call up. Smith would seem to give the Dodgers the best chance of helping them win right now given what they're getting from Barnes/Martin (and they're obviously among the top favorites to win it all in 2019), so they may also be trying to showcase Ruiz in the small window they have prior to the deadline. Putting Ruiz in an ultra-friendly hitting environment over the next 10 days was likely a smart move (and he started off as well as they could've hoped).

Ruiz is a great talent, but had a poor year offensively in AA, so I think I agree with @Dark One here, they might be trying to push up his stats or create a buzz via promotion to help increase his trade value some. Seems like he's probably on track to reach the majors next year, might not have a big impact until 2021 though.
