Cool Story Bro 2017 Edition

Recommended Posts

I love all my dynasty RBs and know I'll need to trade one to upgrade other positions and it stresses me out. 16 team league, there are teams where my RB6 (Collins) would be their RB2 and most valuable dynasty RB asset, even now, before he blows up (hard to say he won't after watching him play).

Fournette, Cook, Kamara, Thompson, Duke, Collins, Smallwood, Ekeler

In MFL my positional RB differential is +201, which I can only assume is good as these guys have been killing it.

I'm 2-5. On life support. Drafted players like Hyde, Ajayi, AROB, Corey Coleman, Devante Parker, Martavis Bryant, Gillislee.....

Playing against a 6-1 powerhouse who beat me by 95 points 3 weeks ago.

At 12:55 eastern....I swap out Carlos Hyde and insert JuJu.

Boom. It takes a special kind of bad team to start JuJu in a 10 teamer.

I swapped out Fuller for D Lewis :( stupid choice since I was starting Watson regardless.

Week started rough by dropping Alex Collins right before kick off Thursday. Luckily the player I dropped him for was Juju but unfortunately I played Garcon and doctson instead. Somehow I may end up winning scoring a putrid 60 points. Going into MNF with a 24 point lead and Hunt versus KC D and Kelce

Dropped Doctson for Juju 5 minutes before the noon games started. The 98 yard TD pushed me over the top for a win.

Started the season 1-3 losing David Johnson and Allen Robinson, add to that the disastrous performance of Amari Cooper. Salvaged a few wins (through drafting Kareem Hunt as 30th overall pick), now traded some players and got a good squad going forward. Up by 40 with Hunt to go. Getting to 4-4 and closer to defending my title (12th teamer). I've piled up some receivers that could blow up: JuJu, Robinson, Davis, Shepard - so looking forward to the second part of the season.

baseball will always be #1 in my heart...

but after getting back into fantasy football after a few years hiatus (last time I was into it, Jordan Matthews was a league-winner)

it's the best.

I mean, losing always sucks. But it's the best.

a long, draining week of work... a weekend that's gone too soon... but Sunday. Oh, precious Sunday. I completely relate to that Dolphins fan in the commercial who lets his boat drift out to sea.

and it's not just Sunday-- but the weekly buildup to Sunday... the lineup shuffling... scouting the D/ST streamer matchups (I'm convinced this is more effective than having Broncos/Seahawks)... finding the best values on Fanduel/Draftkings.... taking people's money on Draft.com.... scanning other rosters for buy-low candidates... taking a flier on a waiver pebble who turns into a diamond...watching the FF community get all hyped about the Gallman's and Perine's of the world hahaha... listening to the Fantasy Footballers pod as I ride my bike to work... working FAAB like a WallSt trader.... waking up giddy on Sunday at like 5:45am.... making a big omelette breakfast and strong cup of coffee... literally opening 7+ Chrome tabs with every game and manically shifting between them... making those last minute  start/sit decisions.... the eternal battle  of gut versus logic.... whooping my friends butts in fantasy or watching my ego bruise as they whoop mine...

It's not about that $$$ reward or bragging rights. It's about the process. The trek to Mordor.

and of course: JuJu Smith-Schuster

My two Quarterbacks in 14 team standard league with 6 points for passing TDs are Russell Wilson and DeShaun Watson. Its sometimes hard to decide which one to start but this week I couldn't go wrong either way :-)

nflstreams on reddit always has a quality stream

but it's not for me.

It's too much like skipping appetizers, vegetables, and the main course--- and just gouging myself on dessert.

if that food analogy makes any sense...

I've got one team where everything I touch turns to crap, and another team where everything turns to gold.  The one league I went DJ-Zeke-Rodgers to start the draft, took some "great" mid-round high upside guys like Parker and Abdullah, and spent almost all my FAAB on Latavius Murray . . . this is of course my "higher dollar" league that I spent tons of time prepping for the draft and making decisions.  It also has very deep benches where I can stash studs like John Ross.  I'm somehow still in the playoff hunt, but I think that's only due to luck and schedule.

The other team I drafted on my phone when I was out at a restaurant drinking, and ended up with McCoy-Gurley-Hunt-Brady-Ertz.  Random WW adds that I didn't put a lot of thought into like Fuller and Engram have gone off.  I've picked up DEN and HOU DST's when they were dropped for bye weeks.  I even ended up with Greg the Leg at K, as if the team needed 15+ points a week from the kicker as well.  I don't have enough bench spots to keep all the talent, and I don't have enough starting spots to put all the RBs plus Engram in at the same time.  I'm averaging 145+ points per week and just steamrolling everyone in my path.

Why couldn't some of this wealth / luck be spread out?  Or have some strange provision where I could trade from one team to the other?  I spend half my week deciding what studs to sit in one league, and the other half scouring the bottom of the WW barrel in the other for anything with a glimmer of hope.

Makes a ton of sense....and I am one that always passes on dessert. They charge too damn much.

Since I tasted the red zone dessert it’s hard to watch one single game. Too many commercials.

Was sweating WR this week. Everyone was on bye or injured, and I dropped Pryor for JuJu, because I have given up on Pryor and thought *maybe* I could at least get a few points out of JuJu.

So even as the afternoon games approached yesterday, I thought things were looking good for me. I was up 81-41, had nobody in the afternoon game, while my opponent had Chris Thompson and Will Fuller. I mean, hey, this Fuller guy can't just go off AGAIN, can he? Of course not.

Yeah... So I'm then up 81-70 going into SNF. He had the Pittsburgh defense while I had JuJu, and he has Butker tonight while I have Hunt. So, still, not OVERLY concerned with my chances, but a defensive score and a bad day from an overhyped rookie WR could certainly make me sweat.

Nope. 0 points from the Pit defense. 25 from JuJu. I'm up 106-70 going into MNF.

So unless Harrison Butker outscores Kareem Hunt by 36 points, I'm good :D

Thank you, JuJu! From the waiver wire to clinching me a week in 5 days...

I'm hoping I can go on a winning streak, but been a massive failure so far. Sitting at 2-5 in both leagues. Will be 3-5 in both tomorrow. The streak starts now.

All of my RBs in my 10-team redraft league are averse to scoring TDs. And I lost my WR2, 3, and 4 that I drafted to injury (2) and ineffectiveness (I hate you Pryor). The waiver wire is rarely friendly for WRs in standard leagues.
