Decision Day

Recommended Posts

There's two races to follow in this, the last day of the Premier League season.

Manchester United and Chelsea are tied for 1st place with 84 points. The Red Devils hold a massive goal diferential lead over the Blues, so both will be going for the full three points in their respective matches. United has a tough opponent in Wigan (who plays very well at home), while Chelsea hosts Bolton in the West End.

On the other end of the spectrum, four teams fight to avoid falling into the last two open relegation spots.

Derby County has secured one spot, their 11 points is the lowest total ever recorded in the EPL. They'll go back down having tasted top-flight success just once this year.

Bolton currently is 16th with 36 points. Thanks to goal differential, they only need a Draw to be safe, but as was mentioned before, their opponent is looking for bigger things. Nothing's guaranteed for Wanderers.

Fulham is 17th with 33 points. A Draw and Losses by lesser teams will secure safety for "Fulhamerica", led by USA Int'ls Brian McBride, Clint Dempsey and Kasey Keller. They're helped by their opponent, Portsmouth, being involved in the FA Cup final next weekend; they're likely to rest one of the league's top keepers, David James.

Reading is 18th, also with 33 points, on goal differential. Their best player has been another American, Marcus Hahnemann. They need a Win, or a Draw, a Loss by Fulham and a Lodd or Draw by Birmingham.

Birmingham City is in 19th with 32 points. They just got back into the EPL this season. They need a Win, and losses by both Reading and Fulham to emerge.

We'll have our winners in a couple hours.......
