John Wall 2017-2018 Season Outlook

Recommended Posts

John Wall called out his Wizards teammates for playing a selfish style of basketball in losses.

"We talk about it," Wall said. "We say when we play these teams that are not above .500 or not one of the great teams, we go out there playing for stats. It's as simple as that. We can see it. I think we can all see it when we play." Nobody can accuse Wall of mincing words, and Bradley Beal agreed with the assessment. " "We're too selfish," Beal said. "Offense and Defense. Plain and simple. It's frustrating because it's just the inconsistencies that's killing us. It's really killing us. We got to figure it out."

yo dawg, you should call yourself out! Talkin bout inconsistencies, but doesn't talk about his own fg and ft. And of course beal is too selfish cause wall cant hit a shot to save his own life! we need agent zero in here to flash his gun. WHERE ARENAS AT!?!

Had to trade him . He's more of a specialist right now then a fantasy star need to move him to compete for the playoffs and I'm sure other owners were in my shoes as well.

Not sure what you get in return though at this point to make it worth doing so now but, of course, if you got a "fantasy star" in return then you probably do it.

Best I've seem him since he came back from injury. He looked noticeably quicker on his drives than the previous games so I'd say he's close being fully back.

Just got to be patient. Obviously its a bummer hes not producing like 1st or even a second rounder with half the season already. But injuries obviously are the major reason but anytime now he should be coming back to his old ways. Definitely a buy low

I think with his play lately, I don't agree with these pundits, his buy low window is closing. He's looking like his explosive self again, and he's been improving from the field and line as of late. I'm pleased with his play. His high assists numbers have been carrying my team. And the stocks are starting to increase as well. He averages the most blocks for a PG in the league. He's truly a unique talent.

It's not a knock on John Wall but the team looks like it is really trying to get Beal + Otto Porter more involved. In general seems like Wall's value has been shaved by about 10-20%.

OR he's coming off a knee injury and trying to reduce workload until he's 100% healthy.

DC homer who has watched this team for years and now has Wall in a keeper league.

There is some truth to the team getting Beal, and to a lesser extent Porter, more involved but I don't think it shaves 10-20% of his value.  I'd say Wall's reduced value this year is more attributable to his poor shooting and injuries.

I think he/the team is still figuring out how and when to best defer to Beal on the offensive end but ultimately this could even help Wall's game and make him a more efficient scorer.  He is down 3 shot attempts this year in addition to the worse %.

Watching him play I really don't think he's that far off where he was last year.  He likely wont replicate those numbers but I think he'll be close.  Assists numbers would also be up a bit more if Gortat didnt fail to finish at least 2 relatively easy plays a game but don't know if that's gonna change.

It's games like last night why I like doing 2 for 1 trades.  got Dinwiddie on the wire, and Draymond in the 3rd round. I was interested in Wall from the get go. It turns out that his owner had some bad luck. He only had 3 C's, and both Gobert and Millsap went down, so that's when I packaged those 2 players for Wall. Dinwiddie has been playing strong, and Draymond has been who he is, but there are few players in the NBA who could give you 30/10 like Wall can, and no PG who can give you 2 steals and a block or two a game. He hurts you in FT%, but the FG% is trending up, the steals are trending up again, and the PTs are coming back. He has been the #22 player in Yahoo this week, and I'm punting TO's, so he's been even better. For all the fellow Wall owners out there, patience pays off.

I'm back on board.  One can't fault me for being frustrated and dealing him a few weeks ago or so, but I turned back around and traded Drummond back for Wall (it was a 3 for 3 in all, but good enough).  I'm obviously really high in Rebounds now, and Wall definitely looks like Wall again.  Even the Steals are back.  Now he just needs to get a bit more consistent at the FT line, but the way he's playing now, I can live with it.

Another great game for Wall. 12/13 from the line was an unexpected surprise. He's at #11 according to FantasyPros player rater the past 15 days (punting TO's).
