What the hell is up with this team when DeGrom is on the mound?

They scored:

4 runs friday

12 runs Thursday

6 runs Wednesday

6 runs Tuesday

2 runs Monday (DeGrom’s last start)

Through 6 innings tonight they have 0 runs.

i just can’t wrap my head around it.

You know deGrom's run support is not that bad.

Before tonight there were nine pitchers with worse run support.

I'm just saying. The way people talk in here it's like the Mets when deGrom is on the mound are setting records in futility.

There are like at least 150 starting pitchers in the MLB. The Mets are brutal with run support for deGrom.

It's not like they're getting shut down by world beaters - it's Trevor Williams tonight. They need a kick in the pants.

Hahahahaha man I was with you. Then I saw they lost 5-0. This team is so so so so so so bad.

They are setting records in futility.

The first pitcher in MLB history to have an ERA below 2.00 in his first 20 starts of a season and win fewer than seven games.

He's pitched 7 games of 1 run or less and had the team lose. Granted some of that is on the bullpen but he's had the team score 2 runs or less  9 times in his starts.

The craziest thing about all of this is he’s so much closer to being 5-12 than he would be to 12-5. He’s had to be nearly perfect to just not lose. An extra mistake here or there and he doesn’t get the no decision.

Does anyone think the Mets will shut him down early considering theres not much to play for?

I doubt he wants to be shutdown if he thinks he has a shot at the CY Young. Will help in his contract negotiations. But if I were the Mets I think a shutdown would be best for the team.

Not really, as the inmates run the asylum in Flushing.

No way. That would not go over well with anyone - media, fans, commissioners office, DeGrom himself, etc.

I would say 1 run over 8 innings is 1 more than I expected, but DeGrom was the one who drove it in. I'm not surprised the Mets didn't trade him - they can't trade away their best hitter!

Tonight wasn’t all bad. He became the first pitcher in 102 years to have a losing record after 22 starts with a sub 2 ERA. Congratulations Jake! I know you warm up to ‘Simple Man’ by Lynyrd Skynyrd but may I suggest a more contemporary selection?

Why in the world would they even consider doing that?

It doesn't ever happen with healthy veteran pitchers

FINALLY a W for JDG!!

He got pulled after 6 innings (100 pitches) and picked up his first win since June.
