Disappointing, hopefully not a prolonged absence!

He said he was fine after throwing a bullpen session, must have gotten out of bed the wrong way to ensure another DL stint

It’s never a Paxton injury without drama

Really too bad.  The Giants can't hit LHP worth a darn.

Well, they did the 40-pitch bullpen for a reason. He stiffened up after that session - so he's not ready.

Compare this approach to what the Mets do and the M's are motherfarking geniuses.

I’n starting with confidence. No Altuve or Correa. Combined 7 runs and 11 hits in their last 3 games.

Hes also coming off an injury and wasn’t pitching very good in the month or so before the injury.  If you say you are “starting with confidence”, you are either ignorant to those facts or just trying to fool yourself.  Starting any pitcher coming off injury is a risk.  Factor in his form just prior to the injury in addition to the opponent...you may get your 7 Ks, but you may well also get 5 ER in 5 IP.  “Starting with confidence” is a joke.

He skipped 2 starts with a lingering back injury. That’s why he was struggling. He is healthy now. He is an ace.

I am starting with confidence. You should bench him.

He's got a darn good .290 career ERA against HOU, including 2 good starts this year. I'm always cautious against BOS/NYY/HOU types and coming off injury, so I can understand the concern some of you have, but at least he's been good against HOU over his career.

[Removed Trolling]

Kidding aside, what a game from the Big Maple. Dominant from start to finish. Touching 85 with the curve, 98 with the fastball. He's untouchable when he's on.

And Paxton had a great first start back...even against a depleted Houston squad. Hopefully he finishes the season strong.

Well...he did get hit by a line drive. Hard to fault him for being hurt by that.
