Unlike those NBA situations, the Giants have FULL control here.

Except they don’t.  OBJ can hold out.

OBJ could hold out all of 2018, then the Giants would have to decide on franchising him in 2019.

OBJ isn’t some poor rookie, he’s been making 8 million a year + endorsements.

OBJ has more control than the Giants.

The hate is strong. The Fear is palpable. You can tell when people make irrational comments on others they have never met. All school-yard name-calling.

Here's another doozie :)

Thats a steal for him.

I don't know if it would be a "STEAL" but it's definitely a good trade for the team that receives OBJ.

He can't hold out all year.  He needs to play at least 6 games for him to accrue the year of service time to become a UFA.

Plus since he's under contract the Giants they can fine him $40k PER DAY under the CBA holding out during TRAINING CAMP.

There is a lot of variation in “1st round pick”.

If it was the Colts #6 pick that’s obviously a bit different than the Rams #23.

For the Rams giving up the #23 would be a STEAL.  The 49ers #9 would be a contender...

I stand corrected.  But, he could certainly ruin the Giants year.

OBJ for example could play up his injury recovery.  The Giants won’t want to have a holdout extend into the year.

I think the rules change under the franchise tag the following year.  He can make it very nasty, and reduce their compensation (in a trade).

He can also do one of those “I’m retiring” and comeback spiels.  I wonder what that would do to the Giants ability to franchise him...

I stand by the sentiment, that if OBJ wants to get traded he’ll get traded.

Didn't a near 28 year old Darrelle Revis coming off an ACL tear fetch a 1st (13th overall) and 4th?

Odell is what, 25? Coming off a fractured fibula. 2-3 years younger than Revis was.

That's why, unfortunately, it will be the Rams #1 this year and #1 next year. Or a 2018 1st round + 2 2019 3rd Rounders.

so 10 million dollar contract i'll even say 3 years at 5 mil for his nike deal thats 25 million

mr tax man comes along and takes half then im sure he has to pay some other guys too

im just pointing out he hasnt made like tens of millions of dollars yet

I don’t remember where I saw the 8 million.

I think it was because he was 12th overall draft pick...

For the Rams to do the deal, it probably would take 2 first round picks as you mentioned.  For the 49ers, it could get done for less. (1st + 2nd)

I am of course guessing.

Forbes says OBJ’s net worth is 8 million.  That might calculated from his signing bonus + salary....

Anyways, the guy isn’t starving.

This is “reporting” now ?

So they aren’t shopping him or want to trade him and this is nowhere near happening but if it did it costs at least 2 1st round picks

thanks for the scoop!

All I know is if OBJ was traded to the Rams the NFL would have to figure out how to nationally televise most of their games.
