Garrett Richards 2018 Outlook

Recommended Posts

His inefficiency seemingly pops up constantly.  He’s got a massive arm.  Have the Angels given any thought of turning him into a closer, or reliever?  The hybrid reliever who can come in and throw more than one inning, kind of like how Oakland has used Treinen.  It’s probably too early to discuss the move but seeing him tick it up to 100+ in short stints seems kind of tantalizing.

Could you imagine the type of gascan type outings he'd have with his control issues though?

He's got a real confidence problem when it comes to his mechanics. You can see it in his eyes when he's about to start his delivery to the plate. If he doesn't fix that he'll continue to be a middling starter with tantalizing upside.

Interesting thought, but I can't see this happening with his control issues.  He is always a walk and wild pitch away of putting tying run in scoring position.

What a disappointment. I rather have him last 6 dominant starts and be done like last year than this crap.

Luckily I learned my lesson and didn't start him vs. NYY but he's not supposed to be a streamer.

Garrrrrrett!

'18 season:

61 IP, 3.25 ERA, 3.54 xFIP, 26.9 K%

21 swinging strikes tonight 2nd most of his career.

Got squeezed twice by the ump, lastly versus Gallo on a non-call check-swing. GRich mouthed, "No f***ing way" showing how much of a competitor he is, reminiscent of Jared Weaver on the mound.

Bullpen blew the league, but offense will be better so not worried about that.

Buy-low window: closed.

He has been a more than adequate SP4-5 in standard settings which is typically what he was drafted as. He's not an ace, he's not a streamer. You may have to occasionally sit him against tough matchups but overall I don't get this buy low/sell high talk. He seems like one of the more appropriatly priced players based on performance this year.

in a 16-teamer league. he's a solid SP3, a valuable piece in any rotation. yeah I know he is a tad volatile compared to other options, but his ceiling is definitely way higher than other SP3-tier pitchers out there. no need to 'sell high' after 1 good game or 'panic drop, panic sell' after 1 bad game.

With Ohtani set to miss multiple weeks...

Good news for GRich owners? 5-man rotation? More two start weeks?

I see no reason to stick with a 6 man.  Barria and Tropeano are enough for the back end.

I just looked up the video clip for that and it was sick. He completely froze him with that pitch.

Just a little dehydrated.

Too bad, he was on pace to his usual 5 innings outing.

Pulled after 2 innings.

Velocity was down, probably another injury

Oh gee no, I might not be able to keep my string of losing the WHIP cat if this hump goes down..

Now he's on pace for his usual 12 month torn UCL.

Anyone  watching? Announcers comment?  Show him in the dugout?

The announcers don't know anything yet.  Waiting word from the Angels.

Angels beat writer said it's a hamstring issue, but that doesn't mean s--- with the Angels medical staff.

I wish this joker would hit the DL. He'd be more productive for me by allowing me to pick someone up. Never again with this dude. And please the garrett Richards apologists save me the" but but but look at his ERA."
