Patrick Mahomes II 2018 Outlook

Recommended Posts

#5 Patrick Mahomes

will finish outside the top 5 QBs this week
Did you know Mahomes is only 9th in the NFL in passing yards after three weeks? He is just 1 yard ahead of Matthew Stafford

 and Joe Flacco

too. If you pro-rate his numbers to a full season, he is on pace for fewer than 500 passes. The only reason for his success thus far is an entirely unsustainable 14.0% touchdown rate. More likely, he is a low-end QB1 for the rest of the season, especially against a defense like the Broncos this week.
Final Prediction: 252 pass yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT, 15 rush yards

This dude from fantasypros is at it again lol.

They only annoying thing about owning Mahomes is people coming in this thread (or other league members) that need to remind me that he won’t sustain this touchdown rate. Gee, thanks for the scoop geniuses. Don’t think I need your insight to predict that.

They remind of people who like to predict the stock market is going to crash while it keeps hitting all-time highs every day.

Just, sit back and enjoy the ride.

Sorry analysis, the only reason for Mahomes not putting up top 5 numbers was they had such a big lead they were draining the clock  most of the late 3rd into the 4th qtr. Every game his year the Chiefs have been playing from the lead so no need for keeping the foot on the gas.

If they were chasing the lead then his numbers would be even greater. TD ratio may regress (will) his yardage and attempts should be equal or likely higher. KC defense isn't a strong one so it's entirely likely that the Chiefs will fall behind in some games . Mahomes efficiency has to drop back closer to the mean but volume should mitigate the drop off .

This!

I'm amazed that people can only look at one set of data. Yes, there should be a regression in TD efficiency; yet, those TDs have a real game effect. Mahomes may not be a game-winner for Kansas City, however, he should be a game winner in fantasy because of that bottom 5 defense.

FTR I would not be surprised to see Mahomes stay efficient. He seems to have every level: very short, short, intermediate, long, and deep. He has a quick release and is on point more often than not. His receivers make catches, who knows if Hunt will remember how to move the ball with a hand-off... that helps even more with Mahomes' numbers has he uses dump-off passes instead of handoffs.

I've been all in since they drafted him. I don't know why ppl just feel the need to hate. If you watch him play their isnt any doubt the kid is special.

This MAY be a game where he shows his running chops a bit more while scrambling. He will not be shut down.

Home boi is match up proof. Even if he regresses, he has way too much talent around to be simply an average QB. Anyone saying anything else is simply salty about missing out on him.

Stop using that nickname. It is terrible and a disgrace to Mahomes as a player.

I think Kelce came up with that garbage name. He needs to be shot for that. Could come up with anything better?

Tonight actually showed his upside more than the first few weeks. When his team is behind he can get yards in bunches. Everyone wants to say the TD rate is unsustainable, and it is, but the yardage will only go up as this terrible defense keeps giving up points. He's the number 1 overall QB ros and it isn't even close.

So funny how Jimmy G got all this hype this offseason. The difference between him and mahomes is night and day.

Jimmy G plays for san fran. Hyping up big markets is good for business.

Yeah I do agree with that but he did show flashes of being great. Ive been watching football a long time and the difference is in this day and age is you want someone with enough speed to beat the defensive pressure to get out of the pocket if you have to and make a play happen. You don't need an RG3 type to do it with your legs but you need just enough juice to make a play. Guys like Jimmy and a lot of other QBs are so offensive line dependent. This guy has enough speed to avoid getting sacked and has the arm big enough to make a big throw on the run and the brain to figure out defenses and make the right pass instead of running every other play like a lot of QBs with speed. Pretty impressive.

Apparently you missed the Rams-Vikings game.

Vikings were on the road on a short week in LA. This guy is a first year starting QB that went on the road to play in one of the hardest if not THE hardest stadium in the NFL. Big difference.

Again, play the tape. Mahomes’ mobility and rocket arm strength on the run is awesome, but Goff’s accuracy is otherworldly. As long as his line stays healthy, he’s the #1 FANTASY QB ROS. I didn’t claim he’s the best real world QB, although it’s debatable at this point.

Wrong. Hardly any teams will be able to keep up with the rams offense and they have a much better D than the chiefs. If you want argue he's a better real life QB it could go either way right now even though mahomes in my eyes is the better one but fantasy wise. The chiefs are going to give up points on D every single week against every single team. Rams are going to blow a bunch of teams out by halftime and have the D and the second string RB hold it down for the rest of the game.

Talib is out 8 weeks. The early results are troubling, as is our pass rush outside Donald.

Shields got his chance and he showed he is still a top corner in this league. And they have peters that should be back at some point. The overall D of the Rams isn't even comparable to the chiefs.
