Carlos Hyde 2018 Outlook

Recommended Posts

17 minutes ago, GADirtyBird said:

Speaking Monday, Browns coach Hue Jackson said Nick Chubb "has to get some."

"(Carlos) Hyde is playing well, but this guy is scoring touchdowns from long ways away," Jackson said. "We have good backs. We know that. Sometimes it is going to be hit and miss where some other guy is making it happen and then the other guy goes in and does it." Chubb is a freak athlete big-play threat who could certainly change the pace for the better in the Browns' offense. It's still extremely unlikely he comes into standalone fantasy value as long as Hyde is healthy. Hyde, of course, has an extensive injury history. Chubb is a must stash in all formats.

Chubb might get a couple more touches, but Hyde is one of the top 3 pass blocking rb's in the league, leads the league with Kamara at 5 TD's a, veteran, and been playing great. He's safe for now.

Would if I could but bye weeks are upon is. Have too many team’s RB1s rostered to chase all their 2s at the moment

disagree with this sentiment wholeheartedly.  backup your studs very selectively.

In this case, if you have Chubb he could offer decent replacement value.  But I'm not rostering chase edmonds to back up DJ for example.

I've said it before but, thanks again for staying positive.

Exactly. I'm not rostering Frank Gore to back up Kenyon Drake. Or is it vise versa?

Dear God, I'm ******.

Lol at Hue.  Just before the Jets game, he said "we need to get Duke more touches".  He got a robust 2 carries and 2 catches that week.

Nothing to see here.

It's taking a lot not to sell high on him for an WR1 type value right now. I mean he's averaging 3.4 yards per carry and has 4 receptions in 4 games, surely his value is at an all time high right now, no?

Yea. It’s not getting any better than what we have had. Even ignoring Chubb he is scoring touchdowns at an unsustainable rate. Doubt anyone bites for a WR1 though.

LOL at thinking anyone is giving up a WR1 for Hyde. That's not happening.

Yeah, I think some owners see that 8th overall RB after 4 weeks thing and take it a little too far

In my league at least, there are a lot of good WR available... even on the waiver wire every week there are like 3 new guys doing well... a starting RB getting 80% of the work on a decent offense is a lot more rare and valuable IMO.

Personally I don’t think he’s actually even had a “good” game yet besides one week.  He still has upside. He hasn’t broken off a single big run or catch, he seems due for some splash plays honestly.

Just playing devils advocate haha.

still and RB1 and id only trade him for a WR1.

Maybe if you think a WR1 looks like Golden Tate.

Juju is on another level what I call the "instant reject" when people try to trade for him

Actually Tate is pretty spot on for what you should be able to get.

Just seems like a trend this year that there are a lot of productive WR and not too many productive RBs.

Therefore, in my league at least, RBs are worth more.

IMO, chubb would be a much better fantasy RB than what Hyde is currently (a volume/highly TD dependent RB) but he is going to make mistakes that Hyde wont in pass pro so he won't get that shot unless injury happens to Hyde, which as we know Hyde has a pretty significant injury history.. so I definitely can find room for chubb as a hyde owner.

Agree would easily rather JuJu over Hyde but I have no idea how you can’t consider him a WR1 at this point.

Agreed, but the zero in the pass game is concerning. I know his usage in SF was propped up by Shanahan's system, but still, I figured he'd at least get some dumpoffs like most other RBs. I mean, Lynch is more of a pass-catcher in Oakland than Hyde is.
