Alonso is hitting.344 with an 1,122 ops, this guy is going to force the Mets to call him up, unless they want to move him up to AAA Las Vegas next, and see how he does in a hitters park!

Flores may be headed to the DL; he's in NY getting checked (as the Mets travel to Atlanta for a double header today)

they have no other legit 1B option, nonetheless a RHH 1B, on the roster. No idea if they'd consider bringing him up, but

it's A-Gone and Bruce, as really the only 2 who can play 1B, currently on their active roster

Keep in mind; IF Flores does hit the DL, this is still the Mets. You'll probably see Reyes or Guillorme start at 1b today in the DH or at some point this week...

per ESPN today

Through 50 games with Double-A Binghamton this season, Alonso, 23, is hitting .333/.460/.632 with 14 home runs and 42 RBI across 213 plate appearances.
Spin:
Alonso was highly impressive during his late-season promotion to Binghamton in 2017, but he has taken his game to a whole new level in his first extended action in the Eastern League. His 14 home runs lead the circuit, while his on-base percentage trails only uber prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (.474) among players with at least 40 games played. Perhaps even more than his solid power production, Alonso's improved approach at the plate has elevated him on prospect lists. He owns a 35:41 BB:K for the season, with his 17 percent walk rate doubling his career mark entering 2018. While the Mets have another well-regarded first-base prospect in Dominic Smith at Triple-A Las Vegas, Smith has been seeing more reps in the corner outfield of late, an indication the organization may be viewing Alonso as its preferred first baseman of the future.

Would love to see something per. ESPN that says, "Peter Alonso has been called up from AAA to fill the void at 1B for the New York Mets"

Anyone else find it odd that Alonso is only DH eligible on ESPN but plays for an NL team?

mets are planning to start plawecki at 1st base tomorrow. wouldnt it make more sense to give alonso a shot instead of letting someone play out of position.
