Check out the new Rotoworld Beta Site!   11/14/2018

Rotoworld has been the industry leader in fantasy news and analysis for years, but it was time for a much-needed facelift!  While our around-the-clock, comprehensive coverage will remain the same, the new Rotoworld design will be sleeker, easier to navigate, more video-friendly and will finally be mobile-optimized.    That’s right, you can finally stop pinching the screens on your phones to read our content!  Right now we’re in the beta phase of our launch, and it’s still a work-in-progress, but we’d love for you to check out our soon-to-be new digs, and let us know what you think: https://beta.rotoworld.com.    And then please use the Contact Us button to give us feedback!

Julio Jones 2018 Outlook

Recommended Posts

I think the reason Julio doesn't get many TDs in the red zone is because Ryan can't throw a good fade. Ideally, Ryan and Julio would be capable of doing what Rodgers and Devantae do in the end zone but Ryan just sucks at throwing up those fades, they're always waaaaay off.

this is not true.  It is well known that Julio has allergies to the end zone.  This has been a problem his whole career.  some seasons have been better than others, but every time they find him a new allergy medication it doesn't take long before his system becomes immune to it.  Hopefully they've finally discovered something longer lasting this time.

Hahaha - also way too often Julio does a 20-30 yard catch into red zone then takes breather - so might need to hit the gym for better conditioning.

thats just it, everyone thinks he's taking a breather, when the reality is he's getting close to the EZ so his allergies start acting up.  Not much he can do when his eyes can't stop watering.  They've been trying to keep this a secret for years so they can use him as a decoy, but the cats out of the bag now.

Pretty sad when you look at red zone targets for the last 5 weeks, Julio has a bagel and all we see is the likes of Tevin Coleman, Calvin Ridley, and Austin Freaking Hooper.

Hopefully the TDs will come!

If you look at his splits the last 4 and 5 games vs Adam Thielen:

Last 4 games - Targets/Catches/Yards/TDs
Julio - 45/31/431/1
Thielen - 37/31/358/4

Last 5 games - Targets/Catches/Yards/TDs
Julio - 57/40/604/1
Thielen - 47/38/474/5

If you want to be generous and pretend that Thielen's Week 9 performance didn't happen, and replace it with a prior week instead instead, then you get:

Last 4 games (Use Week 5 instead of 9 for Thielen) - Targets/Catches/Yards/TDs
Julio - 45/31/431/1
Thielen - 40/34/452/4

Last 5 games (Use Week 4 instead of 9 for Thielen) - Targets/Catches/Yards/TDs
Julio - 57/40/604/1
Thielen - 52/42/587/5

Basically, Julio is being targeted, is catching passes, is getting yardage at the same pace as the #1 PPR WR in his best weeks, or outpacing him if you include this last game.

Julio has always had a problem converting TD's for whatever reason, so it may not happen, but if he starts/keeps scoring TDs on top of the paces above, then he's going to be on a lot of league winning rosters.

  • Thanks 1

Fades suck regardless of QB or WR so that’s not the reason.

Well, that would be a league winner, for sure.  Unfortunately, it will not happen.  He will be lucky to finish with two.

That lucky bastard!

On pace to have the 3rd most receiving yards in a season. Could easily see 1800+ yards and 5 or so touchdowns.

Could also see those totals be higher if he has a patented blow up game (200 yards, 2 tds?)
