Eric Pardinho - SP TOR

Recommended Posts

Pardinho was the highest paid international pitcher back in June.  He also is the highest paid player to ever sign out of Brazil for $1,400,000.

This kid could be the gem in an overall weak international class and especially weak in terms of international pitchers.

As a 16 year old his fastball already sits 90 - 93 and can touch 95.  Supposedly already has been developing a curveball, slider, and changeup.

Certainly a lot of upside here.  But 16 year olds really shouldn't be throwing sliders... Plus a fastball touching 95 hopefully The Jays play it safe with this kid.

Got his first game action in The Appalachian League stats were very solid.  4 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 5K, 1 ER.

Already in The Appalachian League at 17 years old is very impressive on its own.  If this kid keeps posting starts like his first one he will sky rocket up the prospect boards.

Just to add onto the info on his first professional start in the minors, Pardinho was reportedly up to 97 MPH throughout. Rare to see a 17-year-old with that much velocity already. Considered by MLB Prospect Watch to be the top pitcher in last year's international amateur class, Pardinho's Curveball is well liked receiving a 60 grade calling it a "swing and miss offering" and his changeup received a 50 grade along with 55 control. He's super far away and so much of his future value depends on his development going forward but the necessary ingredients to be successful are reportedly here. If you're willing to take a risk in a very deep league dynasty, might be worth getting on the train early while the cost is low.

13:1 Ground outs to flyouts.  Guys if he's available go get him, he's going to be high up the prospect list next time rankings come out.

Still so young that obviously a lot can happen with this kid.  Right now, he's slightly built, and while he could grow/fill out, there's no guarantee on it.  At 5'10 155lbs, I would have concerns about durability, etc., but again right now you grab the talent and hope for the best.  Anyone see any projections or comps for him if all goes 'right'.

Roughed up a bit tonight: 4.1IP, 5hits, 4ER, 1BB, 7Ks (2 of the charged runs were the result of inherited runners scoring by the RP)
