2018 Call Up Watch Thread

tonycpsu

This thread is for discussion of confirmed and/or imminent call-ups.  If you've seen news that someone has been called up, or informed speculation from reputable sources that someone may be on their way to the show soon, feel free to share these items with the community here.  Do not ask "who's going to be called up next?" -- that's what the thread is for, so asking is superfluous.  Also, do not use this thread for deep dives into specific minor league players -- that's what their MiLB outlook threads are for.

From High&Inside:

Indians RHP prospect Shane Bieber will make his MLB debut this Thursday vs the Minnesota Twins. Bieber this season has made a meteoric rise between AA & AAA now off to Cleveland. - 65.1(IP) 43H 10R 8ER 3BB 61SO 1.10 ERA

Probably a 1 start unless he replaces Plutko. Currently not avail in ESPN leagues.

Already available on Yahoo if you want him now and play on that platform.  Unless he is already taken.

Per RW Dennis Santana being called up.

Santana figures to slide into a long relief role in the Dodgers' overworked bullpen. The 22-year-old right-hander boasts a 2.54 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 65/16 K/BB ratio in 49 2/3 innings (10 starts) this season between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City. He could see some starts at the major league level later this year

Longenhagen mentioned him as one of the risers this season that should be on the Fangraphs updated top 100 list a few weeks ago

A: Hey Eric, thanks for the chat as always! Outside of Canning, who are a few of your biggest prospects risers so far? Anyone jump into the top 100 that wasn’t there preseason?

Eric A Longenhagen: Kiley and I both have been collecting names to argue over adding to the back of the 100 due to spots vacated by graduations, injuries, etc for our next update and here’s who is on my early list:

Eric A Longenhagen: Dennis Santana, Canning, Jose Soriano, Trent Deveaux, Shane Bieber, DJ Peters, Dunning…

Dennis Santana (RP) just got called up by the Dodgers and may get a spot start on Saturday if they don't use him in relief.  Lights out in the minors to the tune of  65 Ks in 49.2 IP 2.54 ERA / 1.05 Whip looks good to me imma snatching him, could use the peripherals regardless

Bummed its not Christin Stewart, but the Tigers have called up AAA utility man Ronny Rodriguez to the bigs.

Rodriguez is 26 years old but can play all over the diamond and hit very well last year for the Indians AAA affiliate Columbus Clippers: .291, 17 HRs, 15 SBs,  and so far this season has continued to put up very impressive numbers. He doesn't walk but if he gets playing time i could see sneaky fantasy value here. If he hits in Detroit like he has in Toledo and plays most days, could end up with eligibility all over the place. Currently in ESPN he only has 2B. I am guessing he will be playing SS a lot with Iglesias hurt.

Ferguson is not available in Yahoo either.  Just throwing that out there for all of us who play there.

I know it's not a big deal since he'll be sent right back down, but I'm surprised nobody mentioned Clint Frazier being called back up today to be the Yankees' 26th man.  1-4 with a Run and an RBI in Game 1 and he's playing again in Game 2.

Jose Fernandez - 2B -  Angels

Angels purchased the contract of INF Jose Fernandez from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Fernandez put up a .345/.412/.562 batting line with 10 home runs for Salt Lake to earn his first promotion to the majors. The former Cuban star is starting at first base for the Angels on Friday and could see a decent number of starts there if Albert Pujols is used more in the designated hitter spot with Shohei Ohtani (elbow) out. Fernandez can also play second and third base and is worth a shot in deeper formats.

I think this guy is a solid add in most formats. In addition to the numbers above, he posted a 8.8% bb rate and 8.4%k rate in over 200 at-bats in the minors this year.
