About a month ago Syndergaard was supposed to miss one start with a finger issue.   We have not heard from him since.

I don't think the Mets training staff is good. ***

Fixed it for you.

Its NY Mets Doctors. What could go wrong?

Based on every injury that's ever happened to my fantasy team, he'll put up a .120/195/.290 slash line for a month after coming back.

MRI came back clean but he can't grip a bat. He won't play until he can grip a bat, obviously. But knowing how the kid is he'll probably rush back and as someone else said, he'll hit .160 for a while because of it.

As for the Mets doctors, HSS is one of the top facilities in the world. I doubt it's the docs that are doing the lying, it's more than likely the Mets that are lying to the fans. Ask yourself why none of the players talk to the media when they are injured. Guys like Noah and Cespedes sure have a lot to say when they're not injured. This injury to Nimmo I think it's more than just soreness but a little less than a fracture, either way we're probably being lied to about the diagnosis.

Probably a good idea to sit him for a couple of weeks.

Someone crunch the numbers on injuries. It’s astounding how many of my players are hurt or have been on the DL.

I imagine this is a pain management thing at this point. Tough kid. Playing the best ball of his life. I expect him back sooner than later.

lol he's in the game

Good thing I removed him from my lineup

Only the Mets

I expect him to be wearing a hook where his injured hand was by Wednesday.

Luckily he should still have a good eye. I’d expect an adjustment period though.

Would a prosthetic that gripped the bat, similar to what Shaquem Griffin used for the bench press, be within the rules? Odd question, I know, but it got me curious.

Brandon Nimmo finally has enough PAs to qualify for NL leaderboards, which now look like this:

OBP:

Votto, .426

Freeman, .420

Nimmo, .407

SLG:

Nimmo, .585

Freeman, .579

Suarez, .571

wOBA:

Nimmo, .421

Freeman, .418

Arenado, .408

wRC+:

Nimmo, 172

Freeman, 166

Belt, 157

Nimmo is also now among the qualified league leaders in K/PA.

He's been great for me, so I'm not complaining, but I didn't realize he struck out that much...

He's a gamer so probably playing hurt.  Kinda hard to hit a baseball if you're not fully able to grip a bat.

Probably a good idea for fantasy owners to put him on the bench instead of waiting for weeks to realize he might not be the same player he was before the injury.

Probably a good idea for fantasy owners to give him more a day after returning from injury to determine that he might not be the same player he was before the injury.

If he stopped leaning into getting HBPs maybe pitchers wouldn't keep firing away inside off the plate and umps overruling a HBP free plate.  He's earning a bad reputation.  Ron Darling went off on the dude the other day as well.

40% K rate his last 100 at bats, time to move on?

If his contact rates were bad, maybe. But they aren't. He's probably taking a few too many pitches right now and falling behind in counts, but the eye and contact are too good for me to believe he is going to strike out this much.
