Ha I like it! I was able to nab him off a waiver claim this morning so I'm feeling obligated to roll with him. Cheers German let's gooooo.

If I can avoid starting him in Yankee and just get the start @TB at the end of the week, I prefer to do that.

I'm rolling with him. He has absolutely phenomenal swinging strike and contact rates. If he has command of his stuff, he'll dominate. If he's throwing a few meatballs, he'll give up a few homers. Hoping for the former.

I love this kids arms.  As a Yankees fan, I was stoked when they originally got him from the Marlins in the Prado deal (IIRC).  He tore his UCL shortly after, and missed the usual time, but you can really see how electric the stuff is.  It could take a while for him to truly harness it, but I think the Yanks realize they have a nice mid of the rotation arm once he does.  The trick is balancing his development with a difficult division race.  Love the ceiling though.

Can't spell it without "dominance", "commanding", "magic", "romance", "gamer", and "MerMan" either.

If that's not a sign from the devil, then idk what is. All aboard!

I'll just say - weekly lock points league - RP & SP eligibility - strikeout pitcher - winning/dominant hitting supporting lineup .....

Obviously should have gotten on board sooner, but after yesterday's game...  ALL ABOARD!

Wasn't buying in because I watched his last start against TB and it seemed like they were making him look good by swinging at pitches in the dirt all night.  Thought it was more TB's lack of patience than German pitching good, but maybe I was wrong.  Or a lot of the league does the same thing.  Either way, all that matters are German's stats, not whether the hitters suck.

He's the Yankees new Pineda. Mixes brilliance with head scratching inconsistency. Amongst pitchers with 60+ innings he has the 4th best zone contact, 7th best out of zone contact, 2nd best overall contact (tucked right between Scherzer and Sale). He also has the 2nd best swinging strike rate, and 9th best outside the zone swing rate. So, he's as hard as any pitcher to hit in the zone, as hard as any to hit out of the zone, and batters constantly chase his pitches. His Fangraphs profile is basically fantasy baseball porn. But he also makes a few too many mistakes, and is prone to homers. Last night he limited the mistakes, and he can be very, very good if he's commanding his pitches like that.

The only starter — the only starter — with a higher whiff rate right now is Max Scherzer.

So, what you're trying to say he's that you think he's pretty good (and obviously with the article to back it up)? ;)

Hes not Pineda because he has 3 quality pitches. Made the M's quality hitters look stupid last start. Filthy filthy stuff, hopefully he keeps harnessing it.

Pineda was consistently a tease, mixing brilliance with maddening inconsistency. He was a swing and miss monster with phenomenal contact rates but made too many mistakes that led to a horrible homer rate and an ERA worse than his FIP/xFIP/etc. He threw his best breaking pitch (slider) almost as much as his 95 mph fastball, and mixed in a few change ups. German is legitimately doing the exact same thing, sub curveball for slider and a few extra change-ups in place of fastball. So yeah, German uses a 3rd pitch more but the results are basically the same. German has two monster gems, two very very good games, two clunkers, and two mediocre games as a starter. His overal ERA as a starter is 5.09, far worse than his 3.48 xFIP.

The comparison is pretty obvious to me...
