Recommended Posts

8-cat keeper league. If you had to keep 3 today, who would you keep?

Chris Paul
Khris Middleton
Donovan Mitchell
Klay Thompson
Otto Porter Jr.
Clint Capela
Mike Conley

Punting FT%

Capela, Mitchell & Klay if you're thinking long-term win. Paul, Capela, Mitchell if you're winning now.

Not punting/Need to win FT%

Mitchell, Klay, Paul

I'm still kind of a fantasy basketball noob and haven't gone through a season yet where I completely punted a single stat. I like the idea of punting FT%, but I'm thinking most people usually have the same idea. So the only issue I have with completely punting that stat with my keepers is that I could enter the draft and every starts taking the players I need.

Overall, I'm thinking I probably need to keep CP3 for one more season given he's still competing at a high level when healthy. I have some decent, young keeper options this year and could probably draft another keeper for next year. I do really like guys like Mitchell, Capela, and Porter given their age, but probably feel like Klay and Middleton probably have a better track record and aren't old either. Also I feel like Klay probably has a lower ceiling now given the amount of stars on Golden State. So I'm almost thinking about taking him off the consideration list at this point.

I'm wondering if I keeper CP3, Mitchell, and Middleton how that would work out. I'm thinking they should probably be able to really help me out in AST, Steals... PTS, 3PT and FT% should be decent as well... FG%, and REB alright... and then no help in BLK. Then I feel like I could probably draft some bigs early on that can really raise my FG% and REB so that I'm good in AST, Steals, FG%, REB... punting BLK... and then depending how the draft goes try to address PTS, 3PT, FT%. I'd like to say I could probably do something in terms of PTS, but where I don't have anyone on my roster that can average over 25 points a night like a James Harden, Lebron James, Russell Westbrook, etc... I'm not sure how far that puts me behind. FT% I think I could keep in tact early on in the draft when I pick up some bigs because I'm not going after BLKs. And 3PTs I'd have a decent base for, and even if I avoid it with my bigs there's usually 3PT specialists available late in the draft. So I want to say I can kind of address these stats without damaging my strong cats.

Any thoughts? Again, I'm kind of a noob when it comes to effectively executing a punting strategy.

EDIT: 10 team league, 8 cats, keep 3. Full roster spots in sig. I have picks round 1-15 except add an additional 2nd, 13th, 14th... less 7th, 8th, 15th. Picks in the first two rounds are 6th, 16th, and 18th overall.
