Well, guess I should have expected that.

Yes...I would hold. We’re gonna find out if he has the ability to bounce back and dominate a lesser opponent...if not, easy drop.

No love for my man Frankie Montas? Not sure if he’s the luckiest pitcher in baseball or another “Marco Gonzalez” type that can be successful without striking batters out a lot.

He threw 70 fastballs--getting 5 whiffs combined and averaging about 96 MPH

The slider -as usual- was basically only other pitch and it was very effective yesterday:

He threw 31 of them at 85.5 MPH and with a 68% strike rate and 7 whiffs--a lot of break on them.

Only 4 change-ups at 87 MPH, one for a strike and no whiffs.

Still a little skeptical.  His toughest matchup (still at home) did not go well.  2x against KC and one against SD.  Had a good start against Arizona at home - not sure what  that says.

Anyone rolling the dice as a two-starter this week @DET and at home against CLE? This dude has been a bit of an enigma with an unspectacular K rate but nice run prevention skills. Slider usage was up in his last start and he got 11 swinging strikes.

This is what I was afraid of.... he’s definitely off today but it doesn’t seem like he has a large margin for error. I’m gonna assume he has been lucky.

Yeah he has been lucky. No way this is even a sub 4 era guy over 150 innings.

Look at that detroit lineup. He was lucky to give up only 6. Bases loaded dp in the second.

6 Innings of scoreless baseball and a W vs. the Astros. Really expected him to get rocked so he was riding my bench, but a good outing nonetheless.

He's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack....

Montas is back up to take Manaea's spot, goes tomorrow vs. SEA. Anyone giving him a shot?
