Tyler Lockett 2018 Outlook

I would rather have Lockett at his ADP than Baldwin at his - yes I’m serious

(not saying Lockett will outscore Baldwin)

Baldwin is one of the biggest values in the entire draft right now.  Lockett isn't even a guarantee to get 700/4.

Baldwin WAS a value, but with Silva and everyone else hyping him up over the past 2-3 months, he is no longer.

He's gone in the 2nd rd of high stakes drafts as recently as last week. The hype is growing.

Let others reach for a guy who couldn’t even top 1000 yards with Russel throwing for 4K yards and a career high in TDs / attempts

I’ll take the big play threat who’s 10 rounds cheaper

His QB is inconsistent. His offensive line is unproven. His run game is counting on a rookie to avoid another stagnant season. His offense is overall just a muck. Oh - and he's just not very good! Use your last pick on someone in an offense with some potential like Gallup, Doctson, Meredith, Golladay ...

PLAY OF THE DAY GOES TO ... RUSSELL WILSON AND TYLER LOCKET

The chemistry between quarterback Russell Wilson and wide receiver Tyler Lockett looks like it's at mid-season form.

On a play-action pass in team scrimmaging, Wilson connected with Lockett on a 75-yard bomb for a touchdown — drawing the largest cheer from the 12s at the VMAC Sunday. The fourth-year wideout blew by safety Bradley McDougald on the play.

Tyler is on my list. He started last season as a return yard specialist, but he actually did pretty well first half of the season. After a disastrous outing against Houston they hardly used him though, so let's see how that's going to play out this season.

I've always been really high on Lockett's talent. I thought he was in for a big breakout in year 2, but it didn't happen due to injuries and a crowded WR corp. Last year I think he was still banged up. Now healthy and with Richardson gone his could be the breakout and I hope to snag him for fairly cheap everywhere.

I always buy into the Lockett hype, respect his speed but every time I see him...he is LITTLE.

The Seattle o-line can barely pass protect a hitch route so theres little chance they can hold up long enough for deeper routes.

With Richardson and Graham gone and Baldwin banged up he seems like he would make a good flier. Seahawks added Jaron Brown and Brandon Marshall but I don't think either frighten me and Lockett has the advantage of playing with Wilson for years.

Anyone know if he is still slated to be the primary return man?  He could return WR2 numbers (or better) in return yardage leagues.  I know Penny was pretty prolific in college and there have been articles about maybe putting both Penny and Lockett deep for kicks.  I suppose we will know more as the season draws nearer but any insight would be helpful.

Brian Schneider, Seattle's Special Team's Coordinator, had this to say:

Quote

Staying on the new kickoff rule, Schneider was asked if they’ll use multiple returners: “We’ve been working Carson, and Penny, and Lockett. A lot of different combinations back there. But also you have to have a guy that can block, too. That’s why Carson and Penny are cool, they’re 220-pound strong guys that can actually block too if they don’t have the ball. One thing I’ve never liked, we’ve only ever had one returner back there since we’ve been here, because a lot of times you get off a return and you’re kind of missing a man, you’re missing an extra blocker, so we inserted an extra blocker up front.”

From this article posted July 30th:

Also, there is this:

I'm guessing Lockett has the inside track but don't be shocked if Penny gets a lot of it.  They're gonna want to use this first round pick.

Baldwin banged up, gives Lockett practice time with Wilson. Wilson luvs Baldwin, that wont change, but maybe with the extra non Baldwin time, Lockett gains chemistry and trust. Besides, let the #1corners shadow and double team Baldwin.

WR is deep this year but I love lockett's upside on a bad pass heavy offense

Worst possible scenario is a hurt and potentially ineffective Baldwin siphoning looks from Lockett.

How is Baldwin on the field a “worst possible scenario”?. You want him out their either drawing the top CB or at least keeping the defense somewhat honest.

Baldwin isn't gonna draw coverage because he man's the slot. That just leaves Lockett to lose looks to Baldwin and lose out on slot opportunity.

Any word on if he's staying at KR and PR with the increased role?

If you're one of the leagues best at it, you generally remain doing it.

AB84 was still returning punts while putting up 1200+ yard seasons.

This guy and cpatt are too good at the return game to be pulled off it anytime soon IMO.

Maybe 800 yards and 8 tds, which is WR3 value. That's about the best case scenario I have for him at this point.

Jesus- who is Russell Wilson going to throw to on his 500 attempts? Say, 325 completions? Man. Lockett gonna catch 60 balls possibly?
