Why are people so confident in Giles even if he's named the closer?

I think they're confident he's going to be the closer. Not that he's going to be a great closer.

He pitched incredibly well in save situations and his peripherals were fine. He could falter but the skill and tools are there to be great.

Because Jays aren't competing and want to see if they have their closer of the future

Hand owners back in business. Hope you held... being scared of a closer with almost 5 ERA is amateur hour s***

I don't see it as amateur hour. Allen has been the Indians closer since 2014, has been reliable over the years (if unspectacular), and until an implosion three weeks ago had an ERA of 3.25. Sure, there's a reason they traded for Hand, but I don't find it to be unreasonable for Hand owners (I'm not one) to be concerned about Allen remaining the closer in Cleveland.

LeClerq or Diekman?

Tomorrow or next week, probably Diekman.  In a month.... probably Leclerc.

Diekman got 2ks in the 9th. Not sure if he’s gonna be as easy to move as Kela was. But will be a situation to monitor. As bad as the Rangers have been, they’ve been on a hot streak of late and Kela receieved a lot of save opportunities this season.

Worth nothing that Diekman has a 1.42 whip on the season. Been better the last month, but good god that xfip and swing rate

Grab Leclerc and pray it's him

Will Smith 4 batters 4 Ks

He leads all RPs in FIP this year. That is saying enough about how good he has been.

Yahoo thinks Claudio is the favorite in Texas ? I mean, yeah he’s got experience but so what?

4.53 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 25 Ks in 45 IP isn't worthy of closing.

Yahoo is ?

This. Vazquez is a lefty and his numbers only look slightly better than Kela so who knows :/

Only cause he was garbage to start the year off. He's got a firm grasp on the job and has been top tier for the past couple months. FWIW I dropped Kela.

As someone else said, go with Leclerc and hope he gets the job\reason prevails.  No sense gambling on some stiff like Claudio who even if he gets the job is going to likely stink it up anyway imo.

Over the last 30 days Edwin Diaz has a -0.40 FIP :P if Smith were qualified he would lead you are right though. he has been excellent.

I can't complain, I got Smith, Diaz, Hader, and Chapman on my main fantasy team. The Top 4 leaders in FIP this year lol

The Giants usually don’t sell, especially when they’re within striking distance.

Yahoo doesn't make their own player updates. Those blurbs are provided by Rotoworld. Their fantasy advice has gone down the drain over the years.
