yea this makes no sense really but ok... he didnt play the entire week before...plus, even if they think KD is leaving next year, they still want to win THIS year...players are rested for the playoffs, not for the following season so i have no idea how youre coming about your logic

Idk it makes sense to me , rest is also a way to prolong a players career. Professional athletes are in top shape , rest has a lot to due with longevity for a players career.

in my eyes Steve Kerr would never let steph curry play 5 games in 7 nights

First of all, it was 8 nights.

Secondly, Klay and Draymond also played all 5 games...guess they're also both goners.

I've ruptured my Achilles playing basketball..non contact.  I'm telling you, the way KD looked down at the ground by his leg means he was looking for something that he thought hit him, or someone who kicked him.  I did the same thing...I was by myself in the open court and when it happened I thought a ball had gotten loose on to the court and hit me in the back of the leg.

I'm betting that's not a strained calf...that's a ruptured Achilles.

It sure looked like an Achilles injury but thankfully it was nothing more than a strained calf. An Achilles injury could have drastically altered the NBA landscape far beyond this years playoffs.

If KD goes to NY next season is he automatic 1st pick? (assuming no Kyrie) Would you take him over Giannis?

Yeah I would. 1) KD 2) KAT 3) Gianni 4) Harden 5) Steph

Let me remind you that Gianni was (per basketball monster) 8th ranked player this season (9 cat).... with all guys above ahead of him. Soooooo do your math.

Nope. Harden & AD would be 1A & 1B with Steph and KD not too far behind.

As crazy as it sounds , I’m still taking AD 2nd even if he’s in New Orleans

If KD leaves, it goes from a two person draft that it's been lately to a four person draft and that's exciting.  Last year it seemed that if you weren't drafting in the top two, you might as well have the 8th pick or something, because 3-9 were projected so similarly.

Hard to imagine it's anything but that, you can see the big rubber band snap in the lower video. See you in Nov/Dec 2020, KD. What a loss.

Achilles tears for a normal human being require a long road of recovery to get back to full strength. A few people I know never even made it back to full strength. I don't think you're ever really the same after. But being as tall as KD is, with the way he plays. Boy oh boy. I am by no means a doctor and I really hope I'm jumping the gun on this one but we may never see the same KD again. He'll be back someday but I don't know if he's the same guy. Who has torn their Achilles and came back to be the same player, not just in basketball but in any sport? Can't think of anyone off the top of my head but it's rare regardless. Just tragic man. I found myself getting emotional over it last night and I'm not even a huge KD or Warriors fan. It really just is the last thing you want to see happen. Get well, KD.

"Players who returned missed an average of 56 games and saw their PER decline in their first and second seasons back. A 2015 CBS Sports article found that among 14 players who returned from Achilles injuries since 1992, they averaged fewer minutes while both their field goal and three-point percentages dropped, on average. There are very few complete success stories."

For fantasy purposes, where do you draft KD next season, if you draft him at all?

I'd take a flier on him in like the 11th/12th rounds, similar to what people did this past year with Boogie and Porzingis. Only worth it if your league has an IL spot though

Exactly what I was thinking. Lots of people  with draft him earlier based on name recognition.

If this would have happened, say, in February maybe he would have been worth a flier.   But it's already June 11th, simply not enough time to recover.  Even if he makes it back toward the end of next season, it would be under extreme minutes limits with games off.

This thread was a joke all year , Kevin durant was barley a top 10 player while all these biased owners thought he was a top 3 player. On top of that it was obvious the whole season that kd has one foot out of the door, the dynasty is over. I was right the whole time on this thread

Lost season. It'll be interesting to see how he comes back for the 2020/2021 season.
