Bold Predictions for the 2018-2019 Season

Recommended Posts

Fun thread I remember we had last year.  I will start it off with a few:

- Gallinari stays healthy, plays 75 games and has a top 35 9-cat season

- Marvin Bagley struggles and is one of the worst lottery picks

- Embiid is the #1 8-cat player on the season

- Portland misses the playoffs (not so bold?)

- Caris Levert breaks out, posts top 80 value

I’ll stick to ones not mentioned previously:

LeBron fails to make it out of the first round for the first time in years.

The Jazz make it to the WCF.  Donovan Mitchell makes the All-Star team.

Toronto and Boston have an epic ECF the likes of which we haven’t seen in years.

Steph Curry and Durant both finish top 5 and play 70 games.

Draymond Green finishes outside the top 50.

Danny Green becomes fantasy relevant again.

Drummond cracks top 15.

Darren Collison continues to post top 50 value in 9 cat roto but his ADP is 75-80.

Embiid, Simmons, and Fultz all fail to reach their adp.  Redick, Roco, Saric all exceed their adp.

Fournier, Gallo, and Tobias all stay healthy and crack top 50.

Dirk plays 75, has a rennaisance year, and Dallas fights for a playoff spot.

Schroder is actually decent as a LouWill type 6th man.

Brandon Knight plays and cracks top 100.

Melo has a bounce back year and averages 17/7 with 2.5 threes and rebrands himself as a stretch 4.

John Wall fails to reach 25 in per game value and/or misses more than 20 games but people keep drafting him in the second round.

My bold call. This is actually Mitchell Robinson who is undrafted in most leagues and becomes one of the hottest pickups very early in the year. I do think Jarrett Allen will do good in this area too though.

Melo actually agrees to come off the bench; becomes an efficient scorer.

Kawhi has a bounce back season and posts top-5 numbers.

Trae Young has a better season than Luka Doncic.

Kevin Love plays over 65 games, posts 23/11 with a few 3s, gets traded at deadline.

Dwight Howard becomes respected by his new teammates.

LaVar Ball gets angry at the Lakers (ok that one's not so bold).

As a Knight and Noel owner, I love these.

I also think the Trae Young and Sexton ones are not so bold lol

Cousins and Green get into more than 2 fights but still win the championship.

Lakers miss the playoffs, Lebron makes more movies.

Bagley is either the next Carmelo or the next Jahlil Okafor.

Doc Rivers is finally fired and Boban is freed.

Lavine and Parker's knees hold up and Bulls still miss the playoffs.

Jimmy Butler punches Wiggins in the face.

Most of these probably aren't that bold, but here are some predictions:

- Giannis Antetokounmpo wins MVP.
- Luka Doncic wins Rookie of the Year.
- Kawhi Leonard is a top 10 fantasy player, plays 70+ games.
- Golden State does not win the championship.
- The Lakers get knocked out in the 1st round of the playoffs.
- The Spurs miss the playoffs.
- Milwaukee finishes in the top 4 in the East; makes it past the 1st round.
- Boston finishes 1st in the East, but does not make it to the ECF.
