Buddy Hield 2018-2019 Outlook

Recommended Posts

I really like Hield, love his shooting, love the surprising blocks; he was a great sleeper pick.  Just wish he would STEAL THE BALL every once in a while

Anyone watching? Why isn't he getting more minutes? Don't think he's come out in the 2nd half yet after a scorching hot 1st half

entire starting 5 got benched to start the 2nd. Ruined a potential career night for Buddy on his birthday

im starting to see the curry comparisons people are saying

Maybe in terms of shooting but he is no where close in terms of ball-handling and playmaking.

Maybe the 9 of 24 was a bit profligate, but not much to complain about with 6 treys 28-8-1-1 today. Delivering great value for me given he was picked among the last few players in the league in the last round of our 10-team draft.

The great thing about Buddy's game right now is it seems like he and the team have fully embraced shooting the 3-ball a lot more. Kings are/were top in the NBA in 3PT FG% but were bottom 10 in 3PA per game for much of the year, but the past 10 or so games they've collectively started shooting the 3 way more.

During this stretch, Buddy is averaging 4.8 3PM on 10.5 3PA. This has all led to him averaging 24.4 PPG. There really is no reason for Buddy not to keep shooting so many 3's. Steph Curry is the only other player who has a higher FG% from 3PT with this kind of volume

What about steals? Only 0.5 for 31 min. Last season 1.1 for 25 min. Before start of season he said that will play defence for getting more minutes on court. Now he has time and not trying D because lot of offence?

I think he is playing D, he just plays under control more. More focused. He doesn't gamble, just plays straight up solid D. It leads to not getting steals, but better defensive outprint -> he gets more minutes.
