Bradley Beal 2018-2019 Season Outlook

Recommended Posts

I haven't owned him the past few years, but I remember him having a lot of troubles with a stress reaction his first few years in the league. It looks like he's been healthy the past two years as far as games played goes, but for anyone that's owned him recently, has that stress reaction come back at all? He should be a pretty safe target in the 2nd round as long as he's healthy, no?

2nd round!? Good luck to you mate. Overrated. And the more I think about it Beal could be the guy Dwight effects the most. He needs high usage to be at his best, and dwight is going to drain that since wall definitely isn't giving up the rock. He is now of a 4th round guy for me

Stress fractures always hard to predict. Can only go off last year and say he seems fine now.

Projections of 9-cat compared to last year.

Pts: less, Dwight and Wall will likely take alot of possessions away

3p: equal, possibly forced to shoot more from 3 with more of a post presence in the team. Offset by less total shots.

Reb: much less, Dwight is a magnet

Ast: less, took over alot of ball handling duties last year while Wall was out

Stl: unknown

Blk: probably less, will probably guard the perimeter as usual. Wall is a better defender imo and shot blocker so will naturally take the better scorer to defend.

FG%: higher, started jacking up alot of shots when Wall went down.

FT%: unknown

TO: less, will have less ball handling duties with Wall back.

Dude has missed only 5 games in the last 2 seasons. I wouldn't worry about health.

Should'v clarified. Late second, going into the turn. I've got him over Kyrie, Booker, Jrue, Lowry as far as a few players that go around where he goes in mocks. As fas as players that I'd take over him that go in the same area: Embiid, Butler, Mitchell.

I don’t really like drafting SGs in the general in the first few rounds.  Rather I think the scarcest stats are asts/steals and rebounds/blocks so I try to focus on them until they run out.  I don’t really punt points as many of the guys I like are decent in points but I don’t make it a priority either.  Threes are the easiest category to get cheaply as it seems every year three point specialists are on the wire.  Or you can get guys like Redick, Gordon, or Fournier for basically free later in drafts.  So 20/3/3 with 3 threes and 1 steal doesn’t really move the needle for me.  I’d rather target someone who produces in a way that’s not replicable later eg Gobert for 2.5 bpg, Drummond for 16 rpg, Holiday for assists/steals etc.  That’s not a knock on Beal I just don’t really like the McCollum, Beal, Klay types at their price.

Agreed. I've always found 3s to be the easiest category to target and I usually do that later on in the draft e.g. I got Fournier and Lou Will in the 2nd half of my draft this year. Stocks and assists are usually the toughest so i go for those at first

If we talk about similar players then I put Beal ahead of Klay Thompson and McCollum. I hope more rebs/ast than 3/3, probably 4/4 is more realistic.

You grab top tier of shooting guards that are bigger 3PT/PT contributors because of their efficiency and consistency.  Streaming 3PT specialists to compensate in this category is viable but comes with some risk too.

That said, I agree stocks and assists are a better early round investment if choosing between similarly ranked players due to statistical scarcity.

He will hit like 3.5 - 4 threes a game this year imo.

He should take a big step in value this year, mainly because of his 3's. Brooks told him to shoot around 9 3s a game and with his elite 3 point percentage should be able to hit 3.5 - 4 a game. That would take him to Steph curry like 3 point shooting and with defences having to guard the centre now on the Wizards, his FG% should rise too. Beal should be in for a big year.

I've been telling Korver to take 18 3's a game but apparently it isn't as easy as you make it sound.

Yahoo has him ranked 19th. Is this blasphemy? I say with a roaring shout, "yes!"  He is a top 10 fantasy player in my book. Top 5 for dynasty purposes. I said it here first. I could be terribly wrong, but I'm all in this year. He is currently ranked 10th in my top-10 overall rankings. That's right. There are only 9 other players I would draft ahead of him this year in redraft leagues. He's going to be taking 10 threes a game. He'll probably make 7 threes some nights.  There are 80-point games on the horizon folks.  But no seriously, don't sleep on him this year. For real. I'm drinking the Beal juice and you should too.

I think it depends in your league setting. In my league, scoring is king. I just look for the highest scoring player available first. Beal can score so he will help me in FGM, FTM, pts, and 3s.

Got him at the top of the 3rd in a 12 team league but after 3 targets went off right before me (Gobert, Booker, Butler in that order smh).

was thinking of moving him because of Dwight but many of you seem super confident that he’ll trend up instead of down. How come?

He looked pretty good today. He's going to get his whether Dwight is on the court or not.

Aparently no one is affected by Dwight given all the talk in the Beal, Porter and Wall threads (not possible IMO - Dwight simply is NOT going to play like Gortat did doing the dirty work on low usage - Gortat is the polar opposite of Dwight).

Personally I think it will be Beal most affected because he is the guy that needs usage, but I also think Otto might take a little hit too (not too much though). Wall I don't think it matters too much, he is going to hog the ball no matter what, jacking up shots whenever he can, cough it up at an alarming rate, and playing pathetic defense - classic John Wall (whoever thinks John Wall is a good defensive PG needs to watch this guy play a little more - he has become a turnstyle).

But hey they might be right, only because Dwight isn't even close to playing and this bad back may end up keeping him out a lot of the season. It is a big concern for him IMO. While ever he is out Beal and Otto will put up great numbers.

Did he get hurt? Out of the game early first, no foul trouble. I don’t see anything on twitter.
