Keepers For Next Season - Thoughts?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I came in second in my keeper league & hate losing.  Below are keepers I'd consider (this is also the first team in my sig).  I'm contemplating offering Altuve up for a stud/top line SP.  Thoughts?

You keep (8) total.

Rhys Hoskins (I'd assuming he'll only qualify as an OF next year)

Ozzie Albies (2b)

Manny Machado (3b/ss)

Gleyber Torres (2b/ss)

Jose Altuve (2b)

Juan Soto (OF)

Mookie Betts (OF)

Cody Bellinger (1b/OF)

Corey Seager (SS)

Corey Kluber (SP)

Jack Flaherty (SP)

ERod (SP)

Carlos Martinez (SP)

Machado,altuve,betts,soto,kluber are absolute automatics (5)

Id think seager should be an automatic, but some might not think so (1)

That leaves 2 of flaherty, albies, hoskins, bellinger and torres. Out of these,id go Albies and flaherty for star upside. Torres and albies is a preferance thing.

Erod and cmart are probably safe to eliminate because of inconsostency and uncertainty.  Good luck.

How long can you keep players? What are the league settings? Roto or H2H? Do you use CI and MI?

Without any of that info, I'd go with the guys I put in bold. Gives you a nice blend of power and speed and all-around production offensively, and you start your staff with a stud SP. If you can trade Altuve for an elite SP, I'd make a run at that.

Of course, my list is dependent on you being able to start 2B/SS/MI.

Thoughts on mine...

tough chiices, but you’ve got 2 solid 2b already and it’s a good idea to keep a few top pitchers.

good core, a few tough decisions on the backend, just as is mine would be in bold but if Seage were to be fully healthy I might look at that, you seem somwhat overloaded up the middle.  8 keepers is probably deep enough to where some teams dont feel great about their 8, if you are in it to win it, you might think of some slight overpays/tough choices but could land you some 1st round talent for this year.

So could you package a Torres and Soto for a top 5 player maybe from a team who ovepays for youth?

Or could you package say a Soto and Flaherty for another top ace arm?

When you have tough choices (which you do on the backend) should be some opps there to make a deal or two and really have a lights out 8

I'd rather have Bellinger than Hoskins. Bellinger should keep stealing 10+ bags. He's way more athletic than the average 1B.  He should keep hitting for a higher BA. Hoskins FB/Pull tendiance are so extreme. He's likely to maintain below average BABIPs.

Hoskins has a higher HR floor due to that approach for sure. Bellinger had a higher rating in ESPN. Hoskins had a better Razzball rating (Which puts less weight in BA)

Bellinger value is more diverse than Hoskins and the both have big HR ceilings. I totally get the "i want the more bankable power numbers for my 1B" belief though.

cut

ERod

CMart

Bellinger

Hoskins

Flaherty

Those advising Hoskins or Bellinger over Seager is crazy

Seager is the better hitter, it's not even close
