Thomas Bryant - 2018 - 2019 Season Outlook

I was so upset when the Lakers got all cheap and released him, love his enthusiasm and hustle.  However, I never viewed him as starter material and so far he's proven me wrong, but I'm still skeptical... for you guys that have been watching Wiz games, what do you think.. sustainable as starter?

I have been following this guy since Laker days. I agree that the Lakers should have kept him instead of Zubac.  I think current production is very sustainable given his skills.

I think Thomas the Tank Engine fits what a C in this league is now better than Zubac. Zubac, if he is lucky, can be a backup filler. But he is not athletic enough to get blocks, and has poor lateral movement to switch onto guards. The league is now about switching D.

Thomas has weaknesses, but is a great rim protector, has good hands and decent b-ball IQ. In a pick and roll offense he would be deadly.

There's another thing about him which I love, and that is heart. He plays with emotion and energy, and that's gold.

Zubac's been a pretty good rim protector getting blocks with minutes, but I agree Thomas fits the modern nba with his range. Both are still young as well, who knows how they may develop.

Markieff Morris will see a specialist about his neck injury, but he's optimistic he won't be out long.

Morris was elbowed by LeBron on Dec. 16 and ever since he's had pain in his neck and upper back. He recently had an MRI and will see a specialist about the results. "I think if it required surgery, they would have told me already," Morris said. "I don't think it's that deep. I hope it's not that deep." With Dwight Howard (back) already sidelined, Thomas Bryant is more important than ever and the Wizards have seen good results from Ian Mahinmi off the bench.

I too thought Lakers shoulda kept TB over Zubac.. But to claim Zubac cant block shots is flat out wrong. His nickname is Zublocka. And while he may not be as athletic as TB, he’s somewhat like a Marc Gasol Lite when given the opportunity.. I could easily see Zubac average a double double with a couple blocks in TB’s shoes.

Sucks that I got kieff in my redraft league without Thomas Bryant, but at least I got him in my dynasty league. Seems like a good asset to have, according to the forum...

Yeah with their frontcourt players dropping and Wall's injury.

Great. I get that this kid is good at least. But how good is he? must-start in 12-team?

I picked him up in 10-team based on his production in last 7 days.

In my view, he can be another candidate for ww pickup of the year.

10 points and 5 boards in the first quarter on 3/3 and 4/4FT. Played the entire quarter too it looked like.

Oh this kid is never going back to the waivers again.

He challenges and contests shots, rebounds, and can finish around the rim.

Let's hope the Wizards dont shake up too much roster changes or bring in a big man via trade.

Good god, I've watched (and dropped) Kurucs, Zubac, and Mikal...none of them compare to how Bryant looks.

He's got a REALLY nice touch for scoring.  Doesn't really try to do too much.  Just gets into the lane and scores in the paint once Beal or Sato draws the defense, translating to high FG%.   Hits FTs smoothly.  Has a decent enough 3pt shot to keep defenses honest.  Rebounds and plays defense with excellent athleticism and motor.  IQ is...eh, but he isn't the kind of guy to bite on pump fakes like many of the rookies who try block shots and rack up fouls.

Loving this pickup.  D12 may return in Feb or something, and MM is still out, but with the Wiz tanking, they might as well just hold the oldies out.

EDIT:  Btw, he's clearly owed an assist off a steal and easy fast break to Sato (attributed to Ariza for some reason).  Nvm, they gave it to him.  That one assist. He does it all.

I was hesitant to pick him up since I own 3 other Wizards starters (Sato, Ariza and OPJ), but the production has been too good for too long...

I'm in the same exact boat and I didn't pull the trigger tonight. I'm going to dump a bunch of FAAB on him tomorrow.
