Non Starting RB most likely to start in 2019

Recommended Posts

Just looking for a few names of non-starting running backs most likely to start in 2019.  I'm in a pretty shallow dynasty league and looking for possible late season adds that could pay off in 2019.  Any thoughts would be great-thanks.

Aaron Jones :(

In all seriousness though, I'd throw out Darrell Williams from KC. Ware will be a free agent, so the door could be open for Williams (though I expect KC to sign a free agent or draft a RB to compete for the job as well).

Gotta think Ronald Jones will be given every opportunity.. Rashaad Penny as well...

Just looking at guys who aren't starting who teams spent valuable draft capital on.

Drake would be a great fit for any spread offense that is willing to make him their primary ball carrier. He would look good in Nagy's Bears offense, much better fit than Howard. Won't happen though.

Coleman's gonna be a free agent next year- I don't think he'll be back. Ito Smith I think has a stronger chance to take away starting duties from Freeman (i still see it as unlikely).

Was thinking the same thing but as a Hunt replacement next year for the Chiefs. Seems like Miami doesn't see him as a workhorse for whatever reason so maybe they would trade him.

Yup, if this guy gets dropped in keeper leagues, he is worth an add. Could be great in the right offense. Atlanta has been a joke this year.

Rashaad Penny?

Ronald Jones?

The teams that I don't think have a cemented starter currently are:

Eagles: Ajayi is a FA, Adams has been solid but not outstanding as starter, Clement has looked better in the past and Smallwood is just meh.

Buccaneers: Peyton Barber has been a JAG and Ronald Jones never really showed anything this season but always a chance.

Raiders: Lynch and Martin are FAs so Richard is the only lock to atleast be in consideration

Colts: Marlon Mack showed flashes but wouldn't be a surprise for them to bring in someone else (a lot of people rumor Bell)

Jets: Powell has a pretty serious neck injury and is a FA. Crowell should be a factor on early downs/GL but McGuire has shown flashes

Jaguars : Fournette is the starter but with his injury history and Yeldon an expiring deal Hyde is worth keeping tabs on (although he could be a cap casualty)

Dolphins : Should be Kenyan Drake and hopefully will be after a much needed coaching change

Redskins : Peterson is a FA but they'll get Guice back

Chiefs : Ware and Damien Williams are both FA so Chiefs should be major player in draft/FA and might bring either back for depth.

Bears: Odd situation where Howard would probably be suited elsewhere but Cohen should be locked in as the top fantasy back even if not technically the starter.

Titans: 1, 2 punch of Henry and Lewis likely to remain but breakdown/usage could change some

Bills: McCoy should be penciled in as the starter but could be traded. With Allen at QB and how bad the team is makes it tough to rely on their RB

49ers: One would assume McKinnon would reclaim his role but Breida has proven capable and could be useful in Coleman role of Shannahan's offense

Broncos: Lindsay looks super legit but I wouldn't rule out Freeman 100%

Ravens: Anyone's guess. Alex Collins is a RFA, and  Tymont and Allen are FAs though so could make things a little easier.

Texans: Miller seems to have righted the ship but Foreman isn't a bad long shot even though odds are against him returning from achilles

Seahawks: Seems like a matter of time before Carson breaks down and Penny takes over permanently for him

Top FA RBs that could be starting caliber are or have been recently:

Le'Veon Bell - Probably the only guy that will be a workhorse back

Mark Ingram

Tevin Coleman

Jay Ajayi

Marshawn Lynch

Doug Martin

Latavius Murray

Adrian Peterson

Bilal Powell

Spencer Ware

TJ Yeldon

Frank Gore

Rod Smith

CJ Anderson

Kareem Hunt- Could be suspended for part of if not the whole season but coming off leading the league in rushing as a rookie and what was a strong start to this season I think he'll get a second chance at some point.

I think he meant he would be starting for another team. Drafted Coleman in keeper leagues for this purpose.

What about Derrius Guice in Washington?  Though he may not be back in time.

He’ll definitely be healthy in time for training camp, may even get some work in OTAs depending on if they push him. He tore his ACL in the preseason which gives him a year plus to get healthy.
