Nick Pivetta 2019 Outlook

Recommended Posts

Since his return to the rotation:

4.78 ERA

5.68 FIP

4.45 xFIP

7.48 K/9

2.28 HR/9

Good luck figuring out when to start or bench this ticking time bomb.

More talking great Stuff with no control ala Giolito before this year

Giolito has an excellent change up and it's always been at least good.

So, no, not really at all.

Pivettas been so damn frustrating. But in deeper leagues, there are no better options. Pitching is just a dumpster fire this year.

True dat.

I am new to rotisserie baseball.  Before this season I had only played in points leagues.

Is there any positive in that he helped our WHIP and had 4 Ks even though he hurt our ERAs?

your point would make more sense if you outlined why pivetta doesnt have great/good stuff, which seems to have been the premise of your response

or if you were simply saying pivetta doesnt have a great change like Giolito and using that to say why pivetta doesnt have great stuff, not sure on the logic there

For all you Pivetta owners, congrats you have a bullpen arm as of now:

Quote

Nick Pivetta will move to the bullpen once the Phillies' signing of Drew Smyly becomes official.

It was either going to be Pivetta or Vince Velasquez that was demoted, and it's Pivetta who is headed to a relief role. Velasquez had been slated to start Sunday but will be pushed back to Wednesday. Pivetta holds a disappointing 5.74 ERA across 13 starts for Philly this season.

Wasn't he going to be good at one time?

Perhaps because Nick was only filling in while Neris was serving his 3 game suspension? he's back now, so Nick should return to his normal role.

because they already have a fulltime closer who has done a very nice job this year and has no reason to be removed from his closer role

I can see him being permanently converted to a high leverage RP down the line but not now. They have Neris right now who is getting the job done.
