AAF Football ... CBS 8:00pm EST

Recommended Posts

Look at this list of running backs:

1. Trent Richardson – Birmingham Iron
2. Zac Stacy – Memphis Express
4. Akeem Hunt – Orlando Apollos
9. Denard Robinson – Atlanta Legends
10. Branden Oliver – Salt Lake Stallions
15. Akrum Wadley – Atlanta Legends
17. David Cobb – San Antonio Commanders
21. Matt Asiata – Salt Lake Stallions

What's not to like?

Seems like the sports books won't let us bet on it here in NJ yet.  Apparently betting on league of legends is ok, but a football league run by Charlie Ebersol and Bill Polian is somehow shady.

Trent Richardson will be interesting to watch.  Zac Stacey too, I think they face each other Sunday night.

If it ends up being a minor league of sorts for the NFL I see no problem with that and would like to see some players earn a 2nd chance and in some cases a 1st chance at the NFL.

For real tho. lol. Stacy, TRich, and Asiata.

Oliver was a decent RB for the Chargers. Undersized, but might excel at the AAF.

So far I’m liking the product. Seems like the NFL with a lot of the fat cut off. It’s not constant commercials and flags. I hope this league sticks around for awhile. I’m considering becoming a Stallions fan.

It’s a good thing for the players. There are a lot of fringe NFL level players who wash out quickly and don’t really have anywhere to go. Instead of bouncing around 90-man rosters and getting cut every two weeks, Bishop Sankey gets to play real football games and collect a steady paycheck. I’m sure every once in a while an AAF player will put something good on tape and earn a second shot in the NFL.

This s--- is awesome, and @Iron-cock, let's create some sort of betting system, next week, let's make it small wagers, money line straight gets, PayPal friendly, til s--- sorts it out.

im a Salt Lake City fan by the way, what's not to like?

Some AAF players who have looked good in the early going are qb Garrett Gilbert, qb Logan Woodside, rb Kenneth Farrow, rb Zac Stacy and wr Rashad Ross.  Gilbert should definitely be in training camp with someone in the NFL in 2019 because he has looked like Tom Brady in the first 2 games.

Charles Johnson has looked great. I expect him to get a call from an NFL team or two. I think Stacy may get another opportunity.

Yeah, Johnson is another one.  I thought he had a lot of promise when he was with the Vikings.  Not sure if Stacy will get another chance.

I feel like Johnson got lost in the shuffle with Diggs and Thielen coming on.

Stacy is too old to get another shot.

Overall, pretty decent product so far. I'll probably go to the championship game just for kicks.

I think that Stacy is nearing 30 so you're probably right.  I looked at Trent Richardson's numbers and he's averaging less than 3ypc plus he's about 30, too, so it's doubtful he'll get another shot either.  A rb I like is Kenneth Farrow of San Antonio who has looked good so far.  He's still only 25 and showed some flashes when he was in the NFL with the Chargers.  He should be in training camp with an NFL team this year.

Stacy is 27. People tend to forget he had a memorable stretch only two seasons before Gurley was drafted. Then Tre Mason broke out for the Rams the following season and then Gurley.

Oliver looks good to but is the same age as Stacy. I'm curious if any of these QBs end up as third stringers.

If a team were to go for him it would be a CJA/Rams situation because investing in Stacy, even cheaply, you have a 1-2 year window before the cliff.

Garrett Gilbert and John Wolford are 2 qb's who have really stood out so far.  I can see both in NFL training camps competing for 3rd string/practice squad gigs this year.  Josh Woodrum is another one who has an outside shot.
