Luke Voit 2019 Outlook

Quote

Voit had an injection to help him deal with the sports hernia that landed him on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Boone said on WFAN radio with hosts Evan Roberts and John Jastremski on Thursday.

Boone said the injection happened either Wednesday or Tuesday and he didn’t specify the type of injection Voit had.

He added that Voit “felt a little bit better” Thursday.

“We’re going to have to see the next couple of days which way this thing goes,” Boone said. “If it looks like he’s doing pretty well and he’s getting better, there’s a chance that he’ll be back in the fold before long. And then there’s also the chance that he would have to have surgery, which would obviously put much of the season in jeopardy.”

Been scouring for updates on his progress but haven't seemed able to find anything. It's getting harder and harder for me to hang onto this guy, watching players like Grisham get snagged off the wire as I do. I'm most definitely in the playoffs, but am starting to doubt that's when I'll want to rely on a guy just getting healthy.

Best-case scenario is he's back in... two weeks? Three?

Sports hernia is a season ender.  Cut him loose bro.

So the question remains, as Dirty Hairy would put it:  "Do we feel lucky?"

Hard to drop a guy like this; all we can hope for is a speedy recovery- enough that he can contribute through the end of the season.

Hail to all of us who kept this guy for the last several weeks.

Gona start hitting soon. I'd say this is a great stash if he's been dropped.

Worth the stash if he gets to play Baltimore once.

Pretty sure the yanks are done playing Baltimore. Thought Bundy said as much in an interview.

Twas mostly a joke but yes I believe you are right. They do however get to face several pretty weak pitching staffs going forward this year though: Angels, Mariners, Rangers, Tigers, Blue Jays.  The others they face (Red Sox Rays and Athletics) aren't exactly world beating rotations either.

Just gota think with such a good record that they take it easy with Voit. In the sense that maybe he won't play everyday for awhile, or maybe not full games even. Who knows, just a thought.

Agree. Especially with the current depth they have.

Huge plus for those who were patient and hung on to him.

Hopefully they don't sit and baby him too much.

Also hoping he jumps Sanchez and Gregorius in the batting lineup.
