Should I trade Eloy and Vlad?

Recommended Posts

12 team H2H points league keeper. None of the guys in the trade are on their extension year, and all the minor league guys have an extra year until extension.

I have an offer to receive Taillon $8, Clevinger $9, and Robles $5..... giving away Vlad $5, Eloy $5, and J.Nelson $1.

I need to move some minor leaguers as we only keep 4 and I have the 1st overall pick. I have Vlad, Eloy, Tatis, Luis Robert, and Gore. I'm worried all of them at least start the year in the minors, and I'd be money they all do other than Vlad who has a shot at not getting "service time'ed".

I'm also pretty loaded at 3B as I have Suarez, Bryant, and Vlad.

Not enough of a return as far as I’m concerned .

i would let Robert walk if that helps . You have to keep Vlad, Eloy and Tatis .

Can you choose to keep Vlad and Eloy as MLB players at a cheap rate?  If you can, keep one, get all your prospects.  Attempt to trade Suarez or Bryant instead.  You aren't getting enough in that trade IMO.

This is terrible advice.  Why would you sacrifice a whole year of keeper eligibility to keep guys like Gore and Robert?  I would NOT make that trade.  I agree with everyone else, let Robert walk.  Cubans always seem to disappoint.  He might be the next Rusney Castillo for all we know

Or he could be a young Cespedes or Abreu.  Prospects as a whole seem to disappoint at a regular rate.  Who's to say it's Robert that will be the bust instead of one of the 'can't miss' prospects.  The return rate on even premium prospects is about 40%, if that. Fact is, with keeping 4 prospects and him having the first pick, which I missed at first, he really should just draft whomever he drops.  At that point, they will most likely be the best prospect available anyways.

No doubt.  For Robert's sake, I hope he isn't Cespedes.  Abreu is the only one to really live up to expectations.  Puig and Moncada, we will see.  Yasmani Tomas and Castillo were busts.  Im sure Im missing some, but if he is the next Cespedes, Ill pass for sure.  Dude had 1 good season and 1/2 of a monster season.  Always hurt.  Ill pass on that.  With 5 good looking prospects, you have to draw the line somewhere.  For me its between Gore and Robert and Im picking Robert.  And its a KEEPER league, not dynasty.  So wasting the #1 pick overall on Robert or Gore would be foolish advice again

Again, not the best advice IMO.  But to each his own.

If it's not a straight minors pick of course you don't draft Robert.  Considering it's in the same sentence as him having to keep 4 minors, I'd assume it is a minors ONLY pick meaning he should pick the best player, which considering 48 MiLB players are taken, that would most likely be Robert.  Especially for fantasy impact as he's a 5 tool player.  Cespedes had 3 years in the top 15 for MVP votes.  I'm willing to say he had a little better than 1 good season and a 1/2 of a monster season.  Yes, he's been hurt, but at his age, that tends to happen, he didn't come over until he was about 7 years older than Robert, who also has better overall tools.

Where are the 3 seasons he was an MVP candidate?  Or above average fantasy player for that matter?  The good season was 2015 and the monster 1/2 season was 2016.  Other than that 1.5 years, he was serviceable at best.  Im done arguing in his thread.  My last post about this.

Always? Far from it

Jose Abreu

Yoenis cespedes

Yaseil puig

Orlando Hernandez

Raisel iglesias

 I could list more

Using ops plus and era plus these guys were well above average career wise

Puig with his power speed could be a top 100 player this year

Keep Vlady & Eloy, just give Jimmy Nelson for Robles straight up

Not to be a douche -- but this is absolutely nowhere close to being in the realm of fair.

Vlad is being treated as a first rounder in dynasty leagues. Eloy is definitely up there as well (though not a first round talent).

While Clevinger, Tailion are all good, no one in this deal is as remarkable as Vlad is.

You need to keep Vlad and Eloy unless you get blown away.

In a keeper league you can't part with Vlad, Eloy and Tatis.  No way I'd do that trade.  Those three could set you up for a long time as a champion.

Thanks for all the advice. I got carried away chasing pitching since it’s a points league. After thinking about it, I’d be trading the two guys most likely to be 1st rounders in the future, with Robles being a fairly distant third.
