Downside is awful unrosterable player who is injured a lot as he was last year.

I penciled him in for 80 games.

30/15 seems like a 1% outcome. Good for a flyer, but be ready to cut bait.

Yeah, sucks for this guy. Always, always injured past few years. Good stick to own, but just ...can....not....stay....healthy.

What happened the exact day last year.

“March 26, 2018 Arizona Diamondbacks placed RF Steven Souza Jr. on the 10-day disabled list. Right pectoral strain.”

It wasn't even a home plate collision, he fell over the plate! Insert face into palm.  I don't need to see the results of any tests, he is done.

Sounds like a career ender

Yeah probably.

As unfortunate as it is how successful was his career in relation to every kid including me whose dream it was to play in MLB?

Nobody likes to talk about money but he made about ~$10M in his career.  If he invested wisely he could retire at age 30.

Amazing really.

Unfortunately time to wait until 2020 for this guy now:

Quote

Steven Souza will undergo season-ending surgery to repair and ACL tear, LCL tear, and partial PCL tear in his left knee.

Souza also suffered a posterior lateral capsule tear when he crossed home plate in Monday's exhibition game against the White Sox. What else is there to tear in a knee? It'll be another lost season for the 29-year-old outfielder, who appeared in only 72 games last summer due to a severe pectoral strain and batted just .220/.309/.369 when he wasn't on the disabled list. Souza put up an .810 OPS with 30 home runs and 16 stolen bases over 148 games with the Rays in 2017. This freak late-spring knee injury should mean much more guaranteed playing time for new Diamondbacks outfielder Adam Jones.

I have no idea what all of this is except to say it is bad.

Not only does Adam Jones benefit but also Ketel Marte.
