Seth Beer - OF/1B HOU

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Seth Beer is batting almost .500 in the past ten games with more walks than strikeouts.  Mature approach with plus hit and plus power.  My fantasy league doesn't care about defense, and neither do I!

Moreover, I challenge the whispers of Beer not being a baseball "athlete".   He was a world class swimmer.  Swimmers are tremendously strong and very athletic.  Additionally, defense is a skill that can be worked on, especially where Beer is playing now (left field).

Beer is suppose to be the Astros future DH. So depending on if he can hold down an OF spot, or Alvarez improving on defense.....but i can see the Stros trading one of them for pitching. I’d rather see Reddick traded. But I don’t know what we could get for him.

Seth is not very fast, but he used to throw 92 mph when he pitched.  His arm is plenty strong, it’s more just instincts and ground coverage.

Although I think he can play 1b. That’s where he had been playing predominantly in AA. Maybe he ends up splitting time between dh/1b

Great question...I guess hold my Beer and I'll find out...lol

If they bring him up ...nab him!

First base likely.  Not like there is anyone better blocking him.

I think it's pretty safe he's not coming up this season.  If they were willing to stick with Walker this long even when they brought up Cron, then it's likely they will continue to do so until at least the beginning of next season.

While he is an ideal DH, obviously getting traded to anybody that might use him is a win for Seth Beer.
