I have the #1 minor league pick in my league - who should I pick?

Recommended Posts

Based on Baseball America's top 5 best availables (people not already owned in my league) - here are my options.  The league is a 12 team league where we keep 8 minor leaguers and 7 major leaguers each year.  It's a normal 5x5 league with OPS instead of BA.

if it matters, here are my current 7 minor leaguers:  Kyle Tucker, Alex Kirilloff, Brendan Rodgers, Alex Reyes, Luis Robert, Jesus Sanchez, Triston McKenzie

Now onto what I think are my next 5

Casey Mize - #1 pick, a ranked as a top 20 prospect, so most obvious choice.  But I keep getting burned by pitching prospects in this league getting hurt.  And hitters have more value than pitchers in fantasy baseball in general
Joey Bart - 22, so he's most likely close to the majors, which is nice.  But catchers tend to develop much more slowly.  He definitely showed great promise with a .950 OPS and 13 homers in just over 200 AB
Nolan Jones  - huge walk rate, but was only a second round pick.  Seems to be risky relying on one year.  But could be a .300/.400/.500 guy at 3B with 20 homers.
Jonathan India - not a lot of downside.  Polished collegiate hitter:  20/20 potential

Victor Victor Mesa - toolsy upside (but I already have Jonathan Sanchez and Luis Robert as that kind of prospect) who has speed, but no power yet

Out of those choices I’d go India personally. Love Mize but you’re correct SPs are one injury away from a sunken stock. India looks like a 5 tool player and if he stick @3B in Cincy I think he’ll be great for fantasy.

also now looking at Vidal Brujan.

Since none of the others really jump off the page, he could at least be a game changing speedster.
