DeSean Jackson 2019 Outlook

Recommended Posts

I doubt this guy is going to finish in the top 36 this season but the price is so low it's hard to argue with taking a shot on him as the last man on a bench.

He is a great value where he is going in drafts. He is boom or bust, but so is pretty much every receiver to some extent.

I think hes a huge steal at his ADP. Look at the other dudes being drafted around him.

The reports are good. We all know he is pretty boom or bust but he would make a great flex play during your studs  bye weeks or when you feel like rolling the dice.

Yes, agree.  At this point in the draft - all these WRs are pretty boom, bust, or a huge flier.  I get the sense that Desean is going to be utilized more as just a deep play threat.  Even so, if Wentz and Jackson have a Watson and Fuller like relationship - we are talking about a weekly relevant fantasy player.  When is the last time Desean had a legit QB throwing him the ball as the #1 deep threat option?  It seems like forever....holding with bated breathe.

Just look to Desean's 2018 weeks 1-4 with Fitzpatrick at the helm. He just needs someone who's not scared to give him a chance with the deep ball and Wentz is exactly that. I think he'll be a solid WR2 for the season.

He started as an Eagle and will finish an Eagle. Given DeSean's ego, he's gonna ball out this year in front of all his OG fans. He's back where it all began. Week 1 against Washington will be a revenge game. Watch for him to stick it to them.

Seeing a  hand specialist

possible he's out 3-4 weeks

With DeSean Jackson possibly needing three to four weeks to heal from a broken finger, someone has to step up. The Eagles like Nelson Agholor too much in the slot. Arcega-Whiteside starts Week 1.

you do realize the whole reason he's probably seeing this specialist is to get a special custom splint made to be able to play Week 1, right?

It appears DeSean Jackson’s hand injury isn’t as serious as everyone thought. The wide receiver will play Week 1 against the Washington Redskins. That’s the latest update from the Eagles.

Jackson sat out the Eagles final preseason game Thursday night, along with all the other starters. He showed up wearing a heavy bandage, not an actual splint and appeared ready for the season opener.

Had absolutely no worries about Desean and his finger...seriously, a broken finger is going to keep you from playing?  Hell no.

Especially on your non dominant hand when you catch a lot of deep passes that come down at a nice drop in instead of bullets across the short / middle routes

Put him down for at least 5 catches, 60 yards, and a decent shot at a TD

I see him catching everything.  Bullets, slot passes, deep passes, end arounds, screens.....dude is going to be a major part of this passing attack (minor role in running+

True, though the finger might limit his field presence...  They definitely are going to use him in a ton of formations and routes.  I would not be surprised in the least if he was one of the top targets.  Wentz loves him and they've worked together a bunch.

Played a month with a broken finger tip in NCAA D1 hockey.  Hurt like hell on some passes but it didn't hurt my recovery.  My finger looks stupid now but...whatever. Desean is going to tape it to another finger and ball out.

He only had 5 catches in a game twice last season lol. He’ll have a few bombs but I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of his role is more important on the field than for fantasy.

I’ll go 3/55/0 for DJax in an easy win over Washington where they’re not throwing too much in the 2nd half.

Well, first of all he had 3 games with 5 receptions last year.  He was also playing with a worse QB, a much worse O-line, a much better competition at WR1 and WR2 as well, plus this is a revenge game for him vs WAS.  I would be shocked if he had only 3 receptions.

Using any player's statistics while a Tampa Bay Buccaneer is a terrible practice.  They stink and played a desperate style of football.  Sling sling sling sling sling blah blah blah....I think this is the year of the old receiver.  Sanders, Jackson, Demaryius, Edelman....who am I missing?

The Eagles have more weapons (Ertz & Goedert - a lot of 2TE sets expected, Jeffery, Agholor, Sproles, Sanders/Howard) than the Bucs did and should be running significantly more in 2018 vs 2019. They threw 37 times per game last year and I’d expect that to come down this year a lot.

Another factor to consider - without a real backup, I doubt the Eagles gameplan is going to be “let’s let Carson drop back, wait 6 seconds for DJax to go long, and sling it.”

As an Eagles follower, my expectation is that DJax is primarily a deep ball decoy and they will be running and throwing short a lot.

You're not following the Eagles closely if you honestly believe this.
