2019 BOLD Predictions

Recommended Posts

St. Patrick’s Day traditionally inaugurates the stretch to the NFL draft, but also inebriety, which invariably leads to boldness, and while our numerous threads often contain outlandish statements based on little more than desire—posts of belligerent ignorance, blind hope, and sheer lack of statistical support—this thread here is the one place to put the fantasy into fantasy football.

No post is too bold, whether you’re suggesting the juggernaut Cleveland Browns stuns the league by going 0-16 again, or the opposite where Baker Reagan Mayfield leads the Browns to victory over the Bills clinching the division in the AFC Championship.

These topics are always fun to look back on to see just how wrong you were. Mine were pretty funny in hindsight last year. I'll give it another go for this year...

Cincinnati Bengals: Tyler Eifert actually stays healthy for a whole season
Cleveland Browns: Powered by an explosive offense led by Josh Gordon, Jarvis Landry, Hyde/Chubb/Duke, and David Njoku, Tyrod Taylor sets career highs in passing yards, TDs, and passer rating. Baker Mayfield does not see the field
Denver Broncos: Royce Freeman has over 1,000 yards rushing and at least 8 TDs
Kansas City Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes leads the AFC in rushing yards and TDs by a QB
Pittsburgh Steelers: Leveon Bell has his best statistical season yet and finishes as overall RB1
San Francisco 49ers: Jerick McKinnon finishes top 10 among RBs in ppr
Seattle Seahawks: Brandon Marshall leads Seattle in TD receptions
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Ronald Jones wins rookie of the year
Tennessee Titans: Dion Lewis gets hurt by Week 7 and Derrick Henry is an RB1 from Week 8 on
Washington Redskins: Chris Thompson has more fantasy points than Guice

Boldness has returned, and some of your predictions were spot-on.

Oh yay, the thread where people state things that have a pretty good chance of happening and pretend they are bold.

I'll say Sammy Watkins is fantasy MVP and WR#1 on the year.

Josh Rosen remains in Arizona and takes a huge leap in the new air raid offense, finishing as a top 8 QB.

Damien Williams finishes as a top 3 RB.

Chris Godwin outscores Mike Evans.

DJ Moore finishes as a top 10 WR.

Royce Freeman becomes the bellcow in Denver and totals 1300 yards and 10 tds.

Matt Breida goes to Philly where he finishes as a top 8 RB.

George Kittle has an even more incredible year and breaks his own TE receiving record.

"George Kittle has an even more incredible year and breaks his own TE receiving record.".  likely. .

My fantasy season isn't crashing and burning by week 6.

That's probably too bold.

Due to wanton hubris and a deeply embedded culture of losing the Browns have difficulty getting on the same page, go 0-4, start blaming each other, and with no one in town to stop Odell from punching out sideline equipment, he shatters his hand. Entire coaching staff fired when they hit 1-7. Hunt returns from suspension to give them a lift, after which they rally to finish 7-9--just enough to give them all kinds of fuel for flexing on IG and another round of jinx-inducing hubris in 2020.

1. The GIants will continue their MEGA (Make Eli Great Again) movement but somehow make the playoffs.

2. Evan Engram #1 Tight End.

3. Jets win the division and have a top 3 offense.

4. Kyler Murray decides to play baseball.

.....Looking back on what I just wrote, #1 might be a little too bold.

Which part is too bold, the Eli being great or G-Men make playoffs?
