Should’ve taken Domingo Santana instead of Blackmon.

Snell and Sale suck and Brad Keller wins the Cy. On that note drop all the players who sucked today.

There is some serioiusness when it comes to when to drop P and cut bait?  I think of two of the real risers in the second half last year who were top 25 ADP in many leagues one for sure maybe 1 top 30 but that was Castillo and Marquez, so that really becomes the question do you trust your instinct on guys and they can actually be good targets for trade if they get off to slow starts.

Some of the best buy lows are those midling guys who you believed in and get off to slow starts.   The stars?  People are just too stubborn, but the middle of the road guys that people especially in drafts where they were just the next guy on a "list" those are the ones people could overreact about.

The Nats are the same Nats of 2018. Crappy fundamentals, no run support, can't bring runners in, etc.

And Davey is still a terrible manager and not the sharpest tool in the shed - even if we were up against DeGrom yesterday.

As I've been saying all offseason, the Indians offense is in shambles and the starters will throw gems and have mostly L's to show for it.

Not a great start...

We'll see what happens these first few weeks but I'm off the DeJong wagon for a red hot Beckham!

Thought I'd put this in this thread where it belongs. Lol.

Last full season for Beckham: .278/.328/.454 with 22 HR and 3.4 WAR

Last full Season for DeJong: 241/.313/.433 with 19 HR and 3.3 WAR

Such a huge overreaction right??

Yes, huge overreaction.

I think you're seriously reaching by comparing Beckham's 2017 to DeJong's 2018. You said "Last full season". You do realize, right, that DeJong only played 19 more games in 2018 than Beckham? I get that it fits the narrative you're trying to create, but it's rather disingenuous. How about just comparing their 2018 seasons?

Beckham: .230/.287/.374 with 45-12-35-1 in 369 ABs/96 games...projected to 550 ABs -- .230-67-18-52-2.

DeJong: .241/.313./.433 with 68-19-68-1 in 436 ABs/115 games...projected to 550 ABs -- .241-86-24-86-1.

How about their 2017 seasons when DeJong was a rookie, and Beckham had his career year to-date?

Beckham: .278/.328/.454 with 67-22-62-6 in 533 ABs/137 games...projected to 550 ABs -- .278-69-23-64-6.

DeJong: .285/.325/.532 with 55-25-65-1 in 417 ABs/108 games...projected to 550 ABs -- .285-73-33-86-1.

Is it possible that Beckham has a better 2019 season? Sure, it's possible, though I believe it's unlikely. But I don't understand how you don't see that it's an overreaction to cut DeJong loose after one game to pick up Beckham who has played three games. I could be wrong and will gladly admit it if I am down the road...but I just don't see Beckham having a better season than DeJong if both stay healthy and play full seasons.

All I am seeing from the stats you've provided is 2 very similar players and you're making my point that it's not a huge overreaction...

I'll glady ride the hot bat until I see a reason otherwise. We can agree to disagree.

If you look at their 550 AB projections and say they're very similar, then I really don't know what to tell you. Huge difference in R and RBI and a sizable difference in HR. Big difference in HR and RBI. I see DeJong vastly outperforming Beckham on a per-AB basis the last two years. I just found it odd that you were bragging in two threads about dropping a young DeJong for a 29yr old who has never lived up to his talent or promise.

Good luck with Beckham, though. I really am rooting for him to live up to his pedigree. This is probably his last chance to get a fresh start on his career, and I hope he excels. I would love to be able to come back and admit that I was wrong about him.
